Hi Ladies!

I'm new to this group, and it has taken me almost a week to read 82 pages and take notes while reading ha!

I'm from the UK and am going to be booking my wedding in October through Thomson (TA cant book any sooner) for Feb 2017.

Can I ask if anyone has booked for 2017 yet and how far in advanced you all booked?

Are there any other ladies on hear from the UK? I think @@Vickiw89 is but not sure about anyone else.

Im planning on booking the sky deck for either cerenomy and reception or pier for cerenomy and sky deck for recption. Has anyone booked or had there reception at the pier? Not many of you talk about the pier - is there any reason why? I think if I do the pier and sky deck then I escape the $1800 surcharge for the sky deck and just have to pay the $15pp for the reception. Is this right?

Can I ask if anyone has booked for 2017 yet and how far in advanced you all booked? I'm worried that if I wait till October 15 to book with Thomson that all the venues I want are going to be taken, am I being dramatic?

Has anyone booked direct with hotel for the wedding and just used TA for holiday (rooms and flights)?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone add me to the facebook page! I'm begging hear ha! I've been waiting for soooo long to be accepted and from what I have read I'm not the only one waiting. My name is Rachel Morris so if anyone is able to add me I would be forever grateful!

If anyone can send me any pictures they have of any of the ceremony venues I would be thrilled to see them. Particularly of the always and forever set ups as I really dont want to part with the money for the memorable moments theme but a little worried the set up for always and forever might be completely plain?

My email address is [email protected] if anyone would like to send me pictures or contact me to give advice.

Thanks and congrats to you all xxx

welcome to the forums! I think if you're going to be booking October 2015 for February 2017 you should be ok. We booked June 2015 for our August 2015 wedding :). I know February is in more high demand than August, but I'd just make sure that you're decided on what you want and make sure that that's what you're getting before you even finalize your contract. Maybe talk to your TA and see if she can help you out with that. My TA was great in communicating with the hotel.

I think the reason why most of us don't talk about the pier is because of the limit on the amount of people you can have there. There's a maximum of 32 people and most weddings are bigger than that. However, it is a gorgeous location! There is a fee to have your ceremony there but it's not as high as the sky deck it's $370. You can also have your reception there and there's a $15pp, just like the sky deck.

It seems new brides are having trouble getting accepted to the group. I honestly have no idea what could be going on with that.

In terms of the always and forever packages, I wouldn't be too worried that it's going to look bland. The locations are beautiful and you don't need much decor. It's all white linens, so you can rent table runners from Lomas or bring your own, you can also add colored napkins and things like that :). I'll try and see if I can steal some pictures from the FB page until they accept you.

When we were looking at AF I put in a request also for the FB group. Never heard back from anyone. It doesn't matter now since we're at Grand Coral instead but it was frustrating not getting a response, not even "denied".

@Racheldennis  You're looking at two beautiful locations for sure! I wanted the pier very much and the system let me book it online but by the time I heard back from someone they told me it shouldn't have let me book the pier because it wasn't available and they tried to put me in the garden at 2:30 in the afternoon. Not happening.

The ladies here that have AF booked will be a huge help to you as far as information once you do actually get booked. 2017 is still a long way off definitely but I think the dates book up quickly so my guess would be that as soon as you're able to book, go for it. Some places won't even let you book more than a year out, others will go at 18 months so it just depends on the location.

Good luck and happy planning!!

Thank you - yes I've decided on sky deck ceremony and reception now because of the limited space on the pier so fingers crossed its available for when I want.

I am now a member of the facebook group yay! Looking forward to planning now :-)

I have seen that a lot of people of hiring decoration from Katy so that might be a good option to keep the cost down. How far are you into your planning? I can see you havent got long left! Very exciting  :D x

Totally agree about the facebook group but after my post I got accepted thanks to Lilly.

Completly understand not wanting the garden - did they refund you your deposit then?

Ive made the decision to book direct through the hotel/karisma for the wedding so I can save my date and locations now then will have to wait for October for the holiday side. Very excited!

I know these girls seem very helpful towards eachother so I am very happy to be apart of a nice group like this now....just hope it last till 2017 lol!!

That's awesome! Also, in case the prices for the wedding stuff increase from now until your wedding date, you get the prices that were there when you booked ;)

I know someone posted a few pages back that you can book without going through Lomas. If you can, I strongly suggest that you do, Lomas is the biggest rip off in history and the source of 95% of my frustrations with this resort.

Well I've put my save the date in which automatically ties me to Lomas but tbh I don't plan on hiring anything if I do it won't be much as I'm planning on using Katy to hire things, I'm bringing silk flowers etc so the only thing they can really get me on is the photographer/vender fee.

What problems are you having with lomas? Are you using them much for decor etc?

Yes it had been confirmed that all prices will stay the same so really happy about that!

I'm not using them much either but they have restrictions on everything and if their prices were somewhat close to real life it wouldn't bother me, but they're so overinflated. At first I thought the same "I'll bring most of my decor, etc" but then just even asking how much little extras were was ridiculous.

Anyway, in the end I'm not getting much from them because I refuse to pay them but it's still frustrating.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
