@@CaroV how good does it feel to be able to put a wedding date and location in your profile on here? lol I was SO excited. It's like this forum somehow made this real for me :)

PS. CONGRATULATIONS! I wanted April so badly but the prices were over my guests budgets.

Ladies!! So im currently working with my TA on blocking out rooms and hes asking if we would like to block out rooms in the older villas or the new essence villas.  Im thinking of possibly doing a mix just to work in different budget rates. What do you guys think? My future MIL is stating it would be easier to just have everyone close together. But does that really matter?? Im just not sure how to go about blocking. If it even worth to block out esccense rooms for the extra cost?  How did you guys do your blocking?

@@racht33 I paid the $300 to block 15 deluxe rooms and $300 per room for an additional 10 deluxe rooms. I did deluxe because I felt that more than likely our guests would choose the cheapest option (especially becuase I went over the budget by $120/pp for TO guests). Although I haven't been to this resort, I know it isn't like a Gran Bahia for example that has 2000+ rooms - although I would like everyone to be fairly close, I decided not to sweat that because the resort isn't gigantic.

Our STDs went out, and like all brides say, not many people have booked BUT I am happy to say we have 7 who have paid their deposit in the first week/week and a half :)

I would recommend (look at me - I think I know what I am talking about because of read a lot of these forums lol) give everyone a final due date that is at least one week before your actual due date.

Our fake deposit due date is exactly 365 days from our wedding day. This was not intential but did end up being one week before they were actually due. It's so crazy to ask people to confirm one year in advance, but...to my surprise, people are jumping on board! :)

Good luck!

@@ashhtayy well unfortunately it looks like I have much bigger stress now that what exact room and location to block. It looks like I possibly may not even get to have the wedding here. :( My TA called me yesterday after our back and forth with the resort to block the rooms and get our date set and they just told him that they have separated themselves from the karisma contracts. So Nothing that karisma offers is offered by the resort for contracts moving forward. With that said.. I wouldn't get the "free" wedding that's going to now go up to about 975.00 they also are charging 1800 for the sky deck. So basically close to 3k now for a 1/2 hour ceremony. They also will not offer the GI perks . So no unlimited events .. no free cocktail party. Nothing!! im so upset its taken me over 3 months doing pros and cons to all resorts and then we settled and i became emotionally invested with Azul Fives. Now it  seems impossible. Unless my TA and his rep can work some magic and see if they will accept our group under the older contract they will lose our entire party. So im now just a sitting duck praying to hear some good news if not ... im back to square 1 on looking for a resort.

If anyone has any suggestions on another resort around the area i would appreciate the feed back.

oh my goodness!! I'm so sad to hear this. I'm wondering if this will affect upcoming weddings in any way. Usually when part of a chain, the hotel has certain standards that they need to adhere to and I'm wondering if now that's out the window. I'm freaking out a little bit here too! My first reaction was, well if they are not associated with Karisma maybe they'll stop charging ridiculous prices for everything but I guess not. I don't know about you, but without any perks, plus higher prices I'd definitely start checking out other places.

I'd look into the hotel next door. One of my friends is staying there for our wedding and it looks gorgeous! I have only heard good thing from this chain of hotels. They're quite a bit cheaper than AF and so are their weddings. It's called Grand Riviera Princess. Honestly had I known about this hotel before maybe I wouldn't have booked AF.

@@TinkerSofi I actually just began to look at that resort is The Grand Sunset Princess where you're getting married @@veryvalentine the same at the Grand Riviera Princess? .

IJust having mixed feelings but i was so emotionally invest.. i already saw our wedding there on the sky deck. Now its like nothing compares ughh! :( I would believe you having the contract with them prior to the changes you will be ok. I would just make sure to get EVERYTHING in writing to go back and forth with what is stated on your contract. and with all its new updates they will have to live up to the standards. Im hoping my TA can  really work some magic because even the thought of starting this all over again is making me want to pull my hair out. Looking for a resort to fit all our needs for the wedding and all the needs for our guest seemed impossible . AHHH

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
