With Karisma, the ceremony and reception are divided, so for the party it's all based on the menu prices on a per person basis. It's not included on the ceremony price, that's why we didn't want to pay the $3000 just for a ceremony :P. Same with the $1700 for the sky deck, it's only for the ceremony and then the party is a different price. When you organize a private event (a reception), the price per person includes the food and open bar for 4 hours.

We upgraded the venue for the ceremony to the sky deck but we're keeping most things pretty simple for the ceremony, we're bringing our own decor, nothing too fancy and I'm just getting my bouquet from Lomas. We think it's just so gorgeous up there that we really don't need much decor :).

For the reception we also upgraded to the sky deck (that's a $15pp surcharge to the price of the menu), we picked the BBQ deluxe menu (one of the buffet menus)  and we're just upgrading the tables to the vintage elegance package, which are $250 each.

That's right. I also think the always and forever package is not free anymore so that's another $950 :(

It's still cheaper than paying the $3000 for the memorable moments package. They also have some newer packages, which if you have around 25 guests, might be worth looking into. They're in the lomas website. They're basically the memorable moments package with other extras like the food for the reception and things like that :) and they're around $7000

Yeah, so the $250 only includes the table set up but not the food but I think if you get one of the newer packages you get both, the ceremony with the decor and the reception decor plus the food. I think they're all for 25 guests and we have around 45-50 so it would have been too much for us.

We got lucky and booked before they raised the prices for the food but it's still not too bad. I'm planning a reception in Argentina and the prices for food are actually higher than in Mexico. So that's the silver lining! Mexico is still cheaper

No worries. I was there a few months ago. To give you an idea we're able to have a wedding for 47 people for around $7000 (just for karisma, without counting photo and video, attire, etc) including he upgrades I told you about. With the new prices let's say the same wedding might be around $8000. And well, that's without counting the fact that our dollar sucks right now :(.

I'll post the links to the new packages when I get on my computer. Then you can compare what's best for you :)

Make sure that you book with a GI certified travel agent though. I'm getting my makeup and hair for free because of it, which really helps. Or you can get a free cocktail hour as well. Otherwise us Canadians don't get many perks.

ya i saw that we could not get the free complementary package!

well i think im going to let go of the sky suite for now, cause that really boosts up the price, and go with the A&F package, and get an upgrade for tables like you did ! and the BBQ seems to be the best option !!
cause at least you get the 4 hours bar service !

yes i have a transat rep already lined up ! ill see what we can get !!!  :)
i saw the lomas site..

Great! So you're on your way! I wouldn't feel too bad about not getting the sky suite because you will most likely get upgraded ;). I didn't know that, but a few months ago my TA told us we were upgraded from the one bedroom suite to that one :) and they also upgraded my parents from a deluxe room to a one bedroom! I didn't mind staying in the one bedroom but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm guessing it has to do with their availability. When is your wedding?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
