When you booked the sky terrace for your wedding, did you have to pay the $950 for the always and forever ceremony plus the $1700 for the sky terrace? I reserved my wedding spot today and it looked like I had to pay for both in order to reserve the terrace. Also, has anyone had a wedding on the beach? I'm just not sure I want to pay for both!

If you're not from the US or if you don't have the required number of rooms, yes, you will have to pay both :(

I think they're opening up a new beach location, more private, so ask your WC about it. We bit the bullet and paid for both the wedding package and the sky deck.

Does anyone know if you can squeeze 10 people to the round tables? I know they are generally tables of 8 and I confirmed with my WC about adding a 9th but wondering if there were a couple of children at the table, could we squeeze in 10?

I just had my 150-person wedding at Azul Fives last weekend.  We had 10 people per table in the garden and it was totally fine.  The tables seat 8-10.  If you guys aren't yet on the Azul Fives Hotel Brides page on Facebook, I recommend joining.  Lots of info discussed there.

I am having a hard time deciding on a resort!  I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing how much their guest stayed and how many nights they stayed?

We won't have more than 20 people, but I would like to make it as affordable as possible for guests without sacrificing on quality of the resort too much.

Thanks!

Most of our guests stayed 3 to 4 nights.  We had events Thursday to Sunday.

Yeah - but you have a wedding to worry about! I'd run screaming from the room if I had a wedding to deal with! But I don't! That's the thing! We're just trying to renew our vows and celebrate the fact that I'm still alive to stay married! This place makes everything SO complicated!! Did I see someone make a comment somewhere about only one wedding a day? Cuz I'll tell you right now that is SO not true!! We can't get any locations for pictures because there are weddings everywhere or they're setting up for receptions/cocktails. And we're supposed to pay an extra $800 to bring the photographer onsite but then not have any of the nice locations to take pictures? Uhh nope. So not happening. Especially since the only thing we're there for is the ceremony!!! Then we're leaving to have dinner somewhere else. I'm already getting the comments about the fact that we only have a small group so can't have this or that and can't do this or cant' do that. But they'll take your money, then just tell you everything after the fact. What a mistake this was. I've already asked to find another location. I'll kiss my $200 or whatever it was goodbye if it means I get somewhere that's easier to deal with.

It seems as though they are giving you the subpar treatment because you have less guests, which is a shame. I would call them out on it and see what happens before you lose out on your deposit. I haven't requested any areas for pictures. I didn't know that we needed to do that but I'm fine with taking pictures wherever we can, there's so many beautiful places.

Another idea, is to go to Playa to take pictures and then head to the reception. There are so many great places and I love the artistic flare that the pictures have with the city as a backdrop. Or what about doing a first look? You might be able to get around the fact that they're setting up weddings by taking your pictures earlier.

For me, aside of the fact that they want to charge you extra because you breathe pretty much,  I haven't had too many issues. I just get frustrated with the lack of perks for Canadian brides. I'm calling BS on the fact that they give you the same amount of a discount on our vacation packages. I'm not saying let's get everything the US brides get, but something would be nice. I just found out they also get a discount on the menu prices (on top of everything else), what do we get? nothing. I would be a 100% happy camper if I was in the States and I'd even be happier to pay their outrageous fees because you're getting so many other free things.

Ok rant over haha.

Awe I'm sorry this is happening :( that would be super frustrating. I hope you can sort it out and not lose your deposit. TinkerSofi had some good suggestions. Keep us posted.

I agree that it is frustrating that us Canadian brides do not receive a lot of perks but after speaking with the Karisma rep in Toronto he explained why that is. We're really getting a much better deal on our travel packages than what the American brides have to pay. Their prices for hotel only are a lot higher and then you have to add on air fare on top of that. Transat being the only tour operator has done a lot to bring down the prices to make it more affordable for Canadians. The Karisma rep was telling me that even booking a package through him with a friends and family discount would still cost you more than getting a package through transat with a GIWC. He said that he can only get a discount on the hotel price, once you factor in the cost of the airfare the price just hits the roof. That made me feel better about the perks I'm missing out on. At least I know I have a really good price for my guests.

@@TinkerSofi did I read somewhere that you're doing one of the memorable moments collections? The Vintage Elegance? The Karisma rep said that they just changed it so that if you're doing a memorable moments collection you get the basic Always and Forever package for free. I don't know if you have to be doing the collection for both the ceremony and reception or if it can just be one or the other. It's something you should look into you....saving that $950 would be great!!

@acw271011 My photographer has done a couple of weddings at Azul Fives and he said there are some really beautiful spots to take photos in their new sections where they did all the upgrades. I don't think you need to book any spaces for photos unless it is a ceremony or reception location.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
