@@sbjzmex When I went to the Brides dress rehearsel they told me that they do one wedding a day.  Hopefully all the weddings will have fun people and create a fun experience for the time outside of our weddings. Maybe you and I can have a drink out there! I will be flying in the 12th. I am hoping that the other bride getting married the same day as me shows up on this blog so we can chat!

@@TinkerSofi I am doing the ceremony on the sky deck, cocktail on the sky terrace and reception in garden. My confirmation sheet has everything listed. I am irked by the situation but I am trying to be positive. I asked the coordinator about the change time and she promised me that we will not be rushed. We shall see.

I'm sure it will be fine then. These people do this for a living and they're probably used to doing this in peak times of the year :)

Hi there lovely brides! I am getting married July 2015 at the Gran Caribe Real Resort in Cancun. I can definitely say looking for a Photographer/Videographer was one of the most challenging things. You look at so many websites of pictures and video's and of course everything looks so beautiful. Then you are reading review after review and looking at pricing and it makes the choices that much harder.

In May my fiancé and I went to Cancun to do a site visit and while there we took the opportunity to meet with Photographers/Videographers. After meeting with about 6 different people we decided on Octavio Montes. We were meeting him just for the Photography but, then he showed us his video's and everything was gorgeous which made the decision easier. One company to do handle all my needs. He listened to what we wanted, was open to our suggestions, worked with us on pricing and is offering a 10% off discount to brides. That definitely helped with our budget. Since we have been back he has been responsive, patient and also accepts Pay Pal.

I am grateful for these forums because it's hard planning a wedding that you can't see or experience first hand. Hopefully, this information will help someone else get this task crossed off their "to do" list. Take a look at his work on www.OctavioMontes.com wedding Photographer in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Riviera Maya. I will be happy to share the pictures and video of my big day!

Happy Planning!

Chalonda

Hey ladies,

I just attended the BDR in September and I loved the hotel! It's defiantly smaller than some other resorts I've stayed at, but I think that's better for our guests so we people don't get lost.

Here is what I found out about the construction going on. It should be done around Nov 2014-Jan 2015 and it includes two new villas. Guests can still stay there, but they are trying to sell them as condos. They don't know what type of rooms, or how much they will cost. They are adding 3 new restaurants (Indian, Thai and Caribbean), which are included in the all inclusive package and a new bar.

Let me know if you ladies have in questions, or need pictures of anything!

That's so exciting about the new restaurants! My wedding is November 1, 2014 so I'll let you all know what they've done. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures and post a full review. 46 days! Eek!!

Our ceremony is at 3:30 pm on the beach

The cocktail party is from 4-6 pm on the Sky Deck

The reception is from 6-10 pm in the garden/pool area

The day of our wedding, the sun sets at 5:15 pm so the photographer recommended that for our timeline. I'm not thrilled about the idea of the ceremony being at 3:30, but we're not seeing each other before the ceremony, so we have to do all of the pictures between the ceremony and the reception, and I really wanted pictures when the sun is setting.

For those of you who are asking about photography, I'm using Photos in Cancun. photosincancun.com The main photographer is Derek Campbell. He has two other photographers who will be with him. His rate was supposed to be $2500, but he knocked it down to $2100 so that way it's like I'm only paying half of the outside vendor fee. He also added 2 extra hours to the wedding day photography. He was supposed to come for 8 hours, but he's doing 10 hours for me. He is also coming to the rehearsal dinner for no additional charge and taking pictures there. I only had to pay the day pass for that. He's been great, very responsive and is following my pinterest photography board so he knows exactly what I want. :) I highly suggest him.

hi ladies, are you flying the same day most of your guests are flying or are you planning to fly in few days earlier. I have booked our flights with the majority of guests but was wondering if we should go couple days earlier.

@@mazarin

I am getting to the resort on Tuesday. All of my guests are arriving Thursday. I'm going a few days early so I can a) relax for a bit before everyone is there B) work on my tan before everyone wants to talk to me when they're there and I can't lay out. Ha! C) meet with the wedding coordinator at the property on Wednesday. D) get all my welcome bags together and assembled there bc it's easier for me to do them there and E) do my trial make-up so I can make sure I like what they do. I've never been to the resor so I want to see everything before everyone is there. :)

@@mazarin I am also flying in earlier so that we qualify for the free always & forever wedding package, meet with the on-site coordinator, trial hair and makeup, and hopefully enjoy a little fun and sun before the wedding madness starts!

@@mazarin We're flying out the same day as our guests. We're from Canada though and our tour operator only flies once a week in the summer, which means I'd have to be a week in Mexico before my guests make it down there, it's just too much extra money for a few things that I need to do. Our wedding is still 4 days after we arrive so i'm hoping that will give us enough time for all the final details. I had a horrible dream the other day, basically it was my wedding day and I realized my dress wasn't altered, people didn't know where they needed to go, nothing was ready, just awful hahah. Hopefully it doesn't happen :P

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
