Bad news ladies. I wanted to have some string lights going across the top of the terrace but unfortunately they don't do that up there for all those who were thinking of it as well. Apparently they don't have the structure to hang them up

I think these are semi-private only and you can't choose your location until you get there at the resort.

Sucks! Haha I'm using mine as a rehearsal dinner the night before wedding as a private thank you for parents and bridal party away from our other guests.

Yeah I'm using the semi private dinner that comes with the free package as a welcome dinner for everyone so I don't know what I'll do with this one. I'm almost tempted to try and negotiate if they'll give me a free cocktail hour instead (it's still cheaper for them I think and more useful for me). I have to consult with the fiancé and see what we should do with it.

I know what you mean! We are likely going to qualify for free unlimited events... But cocktail receptions are the only ones that make sense for us! Since free "private events" cant be scheduled before hand and are so limited when it comes to menu. Does anyone have any experience when earning these credits?

@@kmk2016 definitely! with our luck we would get stuck having a reception on the beach, which we really don't want. I'm hoping that because August is low season there I'd have more of a choice. I guess I'll ask LaurieLee and my WC for info on that once the number of rooms have settled.

I begged my wedding coordinator to tell me where my private events were and she did! Even though we qualified for unlimited events, we're only using the cocktail party for our welcome cocktail party and then the rehearsal dinner. Sucks that it's a pre-set menu, but the joy of an all inclusive is that if someone doesn't like it, they can go eat whatever they want after for free!

Are y'all doing your ceremony on the beach or the sky deck? I'm torn about where to do it. I want to do it on the beach, but I'm sort of worried there won't be enough room for 100 people. Does anyone have any pictures or anything? I'm having a hard time finding actual weddings from there with a lot of people. Thanks!

the beach will definitely be enough for 100 people but the only downside is that you have to rent a dancefloor :( which can cost almost as much as the per person surcharge for the sky deck. If you're having a DJ you also need to rent a platform for his equipment. I've been to a party by the beach and it can also be windy (just like the deck) but at least the fresh air is welcomed in the middle of all the dancing and the heat.

We decided to do the terrace because we didn't want any of our wedding events right on the beach. That was actually one of the reasons that drove us to Azul Fives, that they had other venues for a large amount of people :)

@@TinkerSofi Stupid question. Where is the terrace? We're only doing our ceremony on the beach. Then our pre-ceremony cocktail hour on the sky deck and then the reception in the garden/pool area I think. Haven't nailed that one down yet though. So where is the terrace and how many people are you having?

@ The sky deck is right by the beach from what I've see on pictures. There's a building by the pool and it's on that building's rooftop. I put pictures of what it looks like. According to the info that my WC sent me, you can have a maximum of 120 people up there for a display dinner (that's what they call it, you can't have a plated dinner), or a maximum of 60 if you're also having your ceremony and cocktail hour up there. There is a surcharge of $15 pp to the menu that you choose.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
