I only have experience with short dresses in Calgary weather . The flowier they are the more annoying and potentially revealing they are, the tighter the better. I guess you could always get a whole bunch of those veil weights and put on the dress (depending on the dress of course as they might look rather ugly), even then, the veils still move around a bit despite the weights so I'm not sure if that would be too much movement.

some of the short dresses have a bit more structure to their skirt, so even though they're sort of like a short a-line it doesn't feel like they'd be flying all over the place. I say on one of those days when we get those crazy wind storms put it on and go outside. It it withstands that I think you should be ok

Hello,

How many guests do you need to get a one free person?

Also, how do you get a free cocktail party or private event?  Is it based on number of guests? If so, how many?

Thanks!

I love seeing how organized everyone is so far in advance.

@sueann20 I think how many free people you get depends either on the company you're booking through or the hotel. I'm from Canada, going with Transat Air and we get every 11th person free. That's a really good deal, we got quoted at another hotel in Cancun and they wanted to give us every 20th person free. I've heard from others at other hotels that they get every 17th

The free cocktail hour is based on the amount of rooms booked under your group. 10-15 gets you a 2 hr cocktail hour, 16-20 gets your a 3 course dinner, 21 or more you get a cocktail our and 3 course dinner and over 50 you get free unlimited events :)

@@TinkerSofi Thanks! I will ask my travel agent and wedding coordinator.

I have 36 (including the 2 of us) coming so far. I was only told that I get one free person and no mention about a cocktail party.

Yeah I think your travel agent would know better. Go to the karisma website and click where it says specials. The free cocktail should be under weddings.

We are 32 right now. Only 1 away from our 3rd free person! Ugh! So I'm basically going to pressure someone to book with our group haha. That third person is the only way my best friend can join us from Argentina

I will, thanks.

Does the free person include hotel and airfare?

I have about 10 kids coming so I wonder if they don't count in the total guest count.

In my instance this is for a package (air, hotel transfers) through a tour operator (sunwing in my case) free person is a credit for the amount of the lowest purchased room level before taxes. It counts adults only, kids do not count toward your "purchase x, get one free".

These are often negotiated as an incentive from your TA and your operator. Even if travelling to the same hotel or using the same tour operator, your TA may negotiate her own incentives.

This will all be detailed in your contract and should understand all the small print before signing because it can likely not be amended once contract is signed.

Bad news ladies. I wanted to have some string lights going across the top of the terrace but unfortunately they don't do that up there for all those who were thinking of it as well. Apparently they don't have the structure to hang them up

Does anyone know if we can use the free 3 course dinner for the reception? I'm considering that possibility vs. using it for a rehearsal dinner. What options do they give you? I'm sure there are restrictions, given that it's free and all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
