From Canada - When Is The Best Time To Book Flights?

Recommended Posts

HI @@tygrrlily,

I locked in my price with my TA yesterday for Melia Caribe. With my deposit it hold 30 seats for 90 days. Bride and groom had to make a deposit of $200 and then my guests have to deposit $50 to hold their spot. I ended up getting a price with Air Transat leaving St. John's for $1690 and leaving Toronto for $1450. This is the best rate I received for this hotel thus far. Everything else was coming back in the $2000 range. The travel agent also said this rate will most likely end up going up not down. So I went with it. Everyone is pretty anxious to put in the deposits and I don't even have invites out yet. I just locked in this price myself yesterday.

That price sounds good! Can you PM me or post who your TA is? It sounds like our contracts will be similar

My family is hounding me too for details because we're all ready to book! We're trying to keep the price under 2000 too

@@FutureMrsMichaud,

Have you checked into rates and able to get any within your guests budget?

Also when you sent your deposit, did you have to pay the fee at their end for in order for them to receive it. I have never sent a wire transfer so I am not sure what I had to do. I sent my transfer for the hotel and the La Barcaza but the bank teller wasn't sure if I had to pay that or them. I paid for the wire transfer to send it but I didn't pick it up at their end? was I suppose to?

Sorry I should have asked too how long do it normally take for them to receive the money?

Hey!

Yes, we have heard back from our TA as well. I am putting the deposit down for 30 seats to start booking next week when I am home in Kingston.

We didn't do a wire transfer, we paid for our wedding deposit at the resort by credit card and yes...we had to pay the difference with the exchange rate. Once I sent our credit card authorization form and copies of our photo ID it took about 48 hours to get our confirmation back.

HI @@FutureMrsMichaud,

What resort did you end up going with and what were your rates after?

Yay! That's a relief, congrats :)

We booked with The Grand Palladium - Lady Hamilton side, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I will re-post after my meeting with my TA next week. That's when I will receive the rates and contract.

@@tygrrlily what travel agency did you use?

I was using destinationweddings.com, but I really should have did more research first. This forum has been a godsend. My TA has been okay with giving me info about resorts, but I've been unhappy with her response time and answering my questions in a direct manner. In particular, it's taken a very long time to get quotes and she keeps telling me it's because I'm requesting hard things. And based on what I've read here, what I'm asking for is pretty normal. My family and friends are hounding me for details and we're all pretty eager to book

So I'm in the process of finding another agent. I've emailed one that was recommended on this board, and I am hoping she will be able to help me as we want to marry December of this year!

We are getting married November 14th, 2014.

We booked and arranged travel in early November, 2013..... So 1 year out.....

We got an amazing deal directly through Sunwing Weddings department.

We searched ALOT before finally booking and definitely got the best deal for our group!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
