Wording For Invitations To Tell Guests Not To Give Money Or Gifts

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone can help me out to word an invitation to tell my guests we don't want money or gifts. We are having a destination wedding in April of 2014 and because the guests are spending money to travel all that way to be a part of our day, we don't want any money or gifts from them. We feel like they would be spending enough anyway. HELP

This is what I wrote on my wedding website regarding no gifts.  You can add something like this on your invites.

We have not registered for any gifts, instead your gift to us will be attending our special wedding weekend!!

We didn't include anything in our invitation.
We did send out pre-travel communication for all of our guests who were attending.

There was a section called : "What not to pack"

And we wrote: "Gifts! Your presence is our present"

I was going to do the "your presence is our present" thing but when I ran it past the FI, he thought it was offensive to even address gifts on our invite or website and to not bring it up at all. If people ask our family, we are simply having them say we do not want anything, We are leaving it as word of mouth. much like we would do had we chosen to register.

I'm not a fan of including "gift or no gift" information on the invitations. We had a line about "your presence is the only gift we wish to receive" on our website because the website is more informal. For invitations, keep it classy and leave out anything to do with gifts. To me, it sounds presumptuous either way.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
