I am rapdily approaching my wedding date of 4/12/14 and as of last week, everything has changed from what was corresponded through email between myself and the wedding department, the reservation department, and the wedding coordinator manager. This has been nothing but a nightmare the last week and I feel as if my hands are tied. I secured my wedding date with them almost a year ago and have made two different deposits after arrangements were discussed such as menu, venue location, and DJ services. Now that the date is approaching, they are charging me extra (almost double) for certain services and changing my whole menu selection. After serveral phone calls and emails back and forth with the wedding department, they are saying I can take my wedding somewhere else if I dont want to continue with there newly founded agreements. They are going to charge all of the guests rooms way in advance because of their error in over booking the resort and asking for my authorization to do so. Everything in an email that I have "agreed" to is still standing but they will not honor any email agreements or phone conversations on their end. I would love to cancel the whole event and move it somewhere else but this is almost impossible considering the season and that my wedding is only TWO weeks away. Can anyone help me out there!!!!???? I am desperate.

@Bridetobe2014- I don't know much about Mexican law but in the US anything in email is also legally binding. I would look into it and they should be committing to anything which you have via email. Unless there is fine print that states this is not final and it can change then you should be honored for what they committed. Via phone is a different story. I am so sorry. I feel so bad as this is NOT what you should be dealing with.

When my resort tried to start charging me for things we had already agreed on for free I started sending them back their emails confirming the free of charge. After pushing back I was able to have them honor thier original quotes. I'm sorry this is happening to you...I would keep every email (I"m thinking of even going so far as to print them all out and bring them with me).

I would see if there is a wedding planner in your area that specializes in destination weddings and see if they are able to help you out.

Sorry :(

@

Bridetobe2014 sorry to hear about all your drama coming this short notice before your big day.

i thought we had it bad when our wedding co-ordinator was suddenly changed with a month to go to our wedding but your situation seems a lot worse.

i would definitely send them all the confirmation emails etc that you have received and try and get them to honour the commitments that you had arranged.

the worse we had to do was "quickly" fill in the new co-ordinator with all our details, our legal registration documents etc but even then i found that to be such a pain as surely they should have a copy of all the stuff that has been arranged?!

i hope you get everything sort out very soon, they should know that a destination wedding is hard enough without having extra stress put on you at short notice!!

I would highly recommend printing out the paper and taking it with you! It's your reference to everything that was discussed! If you signed a wedding contract, I would also strongly recommend that you refer back to it too. Sometimes it says that things can be changed by the resort without notice, which is a tough one to work around.

Unfortunately Mexico has a bit of a reputation for not sticking exactly within the law.... theirs or anyone else's!!

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
