Early Ceremony Time .... Late Reception

Recommended Posts

We are getting married on 12.13.14 and could only get a 12pm ceremony time, but we want our reception to start around 5 or 6pm.... has any brides had to deal with this or currently are?? We are trying to find the best option for us and to not make our guests wait around.

Thoughts?? All advice is appreciated greatly!! (aka HELP!) haha

I'm no expert but I went to a wedding like that. What they did was do pictures with the group and everyone (we were close to the lake) they also stopped at their favorite bar/restaurant (they were close with everyone there) had a few drinks, some snacks for kids or adults if already hungry and also did a trolley ride around town then straight to the place of reception. Just try and fill in time in between is what they did, with fun stuff of course.

We got married at 1pm and had dinner at 6:30, but Jamaica, not Mexico. And we were just 2, not a group.

For us it allowed us to go offsite to a park that I wanted our photos done at, which was about 15 or 20 mins away and that helped a lot to kill the time after doing our resort photos.

It's a tough dilemma. You can only stretch taking photos for so long. What about an extended cocktail hour? Someplace where your guests can be comfortable and spend time together and have snacks. It will be lunchtime so I'm sure they'll be getting hungry. It would also give them time to return to their room and freshen up if anyone feels like doing that.

Good luck!

We have to do a 12pm wedding as well and the reception dinner doesn't start until 6 or 6:30. So we have a long gap as well. We will be in Jamaica and I'm thinking that we will do pictures for awhile and just tell guests to meet us back ont he beach at like 3 or so and we can have our own pre party before the reception dinner. That way people can go eat, freshen up, or whatever they want in between. At leas that's my best idea so far!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
