Anyone Else Taking Kids?

Recommended Posts

Our wedding is in May 2015. We have a son who will be almost 4 at that point and I am expecting now, so this baby will be almost 1. I'm due in June. So, we are definitely taking our kids with us because we want them to be a part of our big day. I am curious if anyone else will be taking kids, or have taken kids to Jamaica in the past?

I mean, can we take a stroller on the plane? And what about a car seat, do we need that? I know its going to be a lot more work with them but we just can't imagine them not being there! Any one have any tips or experience with this?

Check with your airline for specifications for car seats and strollers, they usually have stipulations about that. But it's YOUR day and if you want your children there, do it :) We don't have children, but our guests are bringing their 1 year old. Just make sure to have extra sunscreen and a hat for them :)

We are taking our kids to our wedding. Granted, ours are older and we are going to Mexico but I have lots of experience traveling with little ones. You should take you car seats with you, however you can only take them on the plane if you have a seat for it. Meaning, if you don't buy a seat for your 1 year old, you will have to check the car seat. As for the stroller they will check that for you at the gate ( as you get on the plane) and they will give it back to you at the door of the plane when you land so the only time you are without it is when you are ON the plane.

We don't have kids, but have a lot of guests who will be bringing theirs.  They are making sure to bring lots of snacks from home, just in case their children are fussy, and also bringing bottles of water to mix formula ... just to be safe.

They should not charge you for checking the stroller at the gate. They may charge you for the car seat if you check that but it depends in the airline.

Awesome. Thank you so much for the info! Thinking about not taking the car seat anyway. If I remember correctly the shuttle we had last time from airport to resort did not even have a seatbelts. I know its scary but maybe we will just hold the little one for that ride. Probably won't take the kids off the resort after that. We will have family there to help when we want to go out for a bit they can stay there!

My Fi and I don't have kids but I chose a family friendly resort so that our guests could bring their kids if they want too!

It's a family celebration after all!

So far I have 4 kids coming!

We have two girls. They'll be 4 and 7 at the time of our wedding and they will be our flower girl and ring bearer. This is one of the reasons we chose RWS. #childfriendly

pamelas21 I am so excited for you. You sound like you're having a ball planning. #happybrides

We've taken them to the Caribbean before and it's smooth sailing. We give them each a carry on, backpack or little suitcase with crayons, books, colouring books, snacks etc. We also maintained their meal schedules by bringing food with us. Ex: oatmeal packets, you can get warm water at any restaurant in the airport. Check out Mobay Lounge in the airport that would definitely help with meal times. They did not have that option where we went.

Hey Dimps! Aww two girls - that sounds so nice - flower girl and ring bearer! <3

Yes, I've read it's very family friendly! I'm sure your girls will love the water park!

Thanks I'm excited too! I'm 6 months away so I'm really trying hard to lock things down - time is going to fly by! And before I know it - we're saying "I do" :D

Feeling happy!

Happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
