Melia Caribe Tropical 2015 Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone!

Just curious to know if there are any brides out there getting married at the Melia Caribe in 2015?!?

Thought it would be nice to connect with other brides and share and ideas/tips about our upcoming weddings. :)

Or, if you have already gotten married there and would like to share anything about your special day (tips/advice/pictures) that would also be greatly appreciated!

HI,

I am actually waiting on quotes for the pricing of this resort for my wedding in April of 2015. There is no specific dates yet as I am waiting on pricing. I am from Canada so I am not sure how that will turn out. I am hoping for a guest budget of about $1600 - $1700. This resort looks great and I believe it may come in my budget. I originally have looked at some resorts in Mexico but a lot are coming in way over budget.

What made you chose this resort?

Hey there! I guess I ended up going with this resort for a few reasons...I spent days reading reviews on a ton of resorts, looking at pictures, and comparing wedding packages. Overall, it came down to I thought the resort looked beautiful and it offers a ton of things for guests to do. I also knew I couldn't go too crazy because I wanted to keep other peoples budgets in mind. I called around and its going to hopefully be around the $1,500 for a week in February. I still haven't gotten finalized prices yet since it is still too far out ut I should be able to get quotes in a couple of weeks!

I also love this resort for the same reasons. I really want this resort and right now the travel agent got back to me and the price is around $1700 depending on the departure city. I have guests leaving form three different departures. Right now I can get pricing and dates but no flight times. I really want to have this straightened away soon so my guests can have some notice to be able to plan and save for the trip. I was reading some topics on this site and I am going to have my ceremony in the garden gazebo and really want to have my reception on the La Barcaza (wedding boat). It looks like a lot of fun and looks like something my guests would enjoy also. I think it's a little different than having a reception at one of the hotel restaurants. I have seen pictures of a reception on the La Barcaza and it looks amazing. I can't wait for the dates and everything to be booked because I am a little bit excited and anxious.

What's your plans on photography? are you having the photography at the resort or an outside photographer? I haven't decided this yet.

I hear ya...I have a ton of guests that want to know prices ASAP. It will also help me out so I can start sending out my Save The Dates that I just finished putting together. For the ceremony I chose to pay extra and have it at the beach gazebo. At first I wanted it on the beach, but then decided against it because I didn't want people in bathing suits watching and in the background of all of the pictures. So this way we still get the beach view and a more intimate surrounding. I am having my reception at the Agora Grill which walks out to the beach. I haven't heard or read anything about the Barcaza, that sounds awesome and unique, and something people will remember!

For photography I am still at a loss! I have looked at the resort photographers photos and for some reason I'm not 100% impressed. I have researched and found a few outside photographers in Punta Cana that I really like, but paying that extra $1,000 to just get them in the resort is a punch to the budget! I also really want to do a Trash the Dress session, so I have to look into that a little more and see how that will also play into the overall budget. Overall, I feel this will be the most stressful thing of all in the whole process and I feel I need to get it figured out ASAP before they get booked!

What are you planning to do for hair/make-up? I have read a lot of mixed reviews about the one at the resort, but as of right now I think I am going to use them.

Are you bringing anything extra with you for the ceremony/reception or any type of welcome gifts/bags for your guests?

Yeah the La Barcaza I actually seen reviews about it on this site. This site is awesome for suggestions because I probably wouldn't have found out about it otherwise.

I think I will just use the salon at the resort.

With regard to bringing stuff I have no idea about anything like that yet. I just only started to narrow down the resort and trying to pick a travel agent that works best for me (which has been hard to find). I would like to do some sort of small welcome bags for the guests too but nothing too over the top and expensive. Just something small to show appreciation that they went all that way to attend.

You should have a look at the La Barcaza too for your reception. It's a good option to check out and their prices are really good in my opinion. I have been in contact with them just to get some quotes and they are really quick to respond and very reasonable with their prices.

Hello make2dayamazing,

I actually just created this account because of you!! I was randomly browsing melia wedding info, to see that we are getting married there on the same day!!!!!!! I am going with the garden gazebo though. ( thank goodness because you are more ahead of me! Lol ) do you know what time your wedding is at? Also, did you find out from the hotel about the $1000 fee for photographers? I looked at this online months back but never moved forward. Was looking at same photographers as you :S I still can't believe this!

Hey there! @@Tawnya

That's awesome for the same day, I didn't know that they did that! What day are you arriving? Our ceremony is set for 4pm with the reception to follow. I ended up going with an outside photographer instead of using the one through the resort. I am paying the $1000 vendor fee. If it's cheaper to book them for three nights I will go that route instead.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
