Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?

Recommended Posts

I am from Airdrie and getting married in a few weeks!! SO excited.  Our date in May 10, 2014 at Beach Palace in Cancun.  Everything is pretty much planned other than a few odds and ends that I am finishing up.   We leave May 7th for Cancun and have a group of 27 people joining us :)

I am in Wainwright, Alberta but majority of my guests will be coming from St. John's, Newfoundland because that's where me and my fiancé are from. we have a couple coming from Ontario as well.

Calgary here too... But long engagement in order to allow family and friends time to save $ and join us. Our date isn't until feb 2016!

Luckily I'm working with an amazing TA here in Calgary that specializes in coordinating destination weddings and has already been working with the hotel and tour operators to lock in my price just under 2 yrs in advance- so everyone can put down a deposit and then pay off their trips slowly!

Haven't been to any bridal shows yet though!

What TA have you been working with? Was she able to negotiate special prices for you? My planning is also going slow because we got engaged last year and we're not getting married until next year! haha at least it'll give people the chance to save too :)

We will have been engaged for 2 yrs by the time the wedding comes too! I am working with Laurielee Rosser (laurielee.ca) and she is amaaaazzzzing! She came highly recommended and now I know why! She was able to negotiate great rates almost 2 yrs ahead of our date! This will allow guests to put down small deposits and then save for our big day! She has relationships with many tour operators that got us great perks too! I highly recommend her. I don't ever use an agent and we travel a lot... But for our wedding? She has been invaluable! I can only imagine she will become even more vital as our date approaches!

thanks for the info! I think a travel agent will really save us many headaches down the road so it's an investment we're willing to make.

I saw your post about you now thinking of changing resorts to a Karisma property.... I'm down there in 3 weeks if you need any info (attending the dress rehearsal).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
