Anyone Tried A Personal Trainer?

Recommended Posts

@@EmmaBrown don't be afraid of the gym! Of course it can be scary and intimidating, but once you familiarize yourself with the surroundings and the equipment you'll get in your own groove. If you join a gym ask for a tour! Maybe check out an all women's gym, or one that at least has a women's only area? I know for me all the gym rat muscle head men are really intimidating and it's so awkward to have them there, and feel them stare. I am much more comfortable in the women's area. Which brings me to my next point - it's so easy to feel self conscious and like everyone is watching and criticizing your every move, but that's furthest from the truth! Everyone is so wrapped up in their own world and watching themselves pump iron they could care less about what you're doing. BE CONFIDENT!!! Put on a brave face, plug in your own music and tune into your workout and get in the zone. One thing my trainer always says, is just get moving! It doesn't matter how much time you have, 5, 10, 15, 60 minutes, do something and get moving! Every little bit counts, and next time, aim higher. Just think, you are working out, you made it to the gym, you are doing what you need to do to feel healthy and get fit, and that's amazing!!!

I love your attitude! I think maybe finding the right confident pump it up play list might be the key. So far, I'm listening to a whole lot of 'Work, b*itch!'- any upbeat, motivational suggestions, girls?

@@acw271011 However, the biggest issue with eating later at night is that people have typically already eaten their calorie allotment for the day and so are over eating.

That's me! Sometimes I think I should just go to sleep at 18.30 to save myself from the after dinner snacks! At least then I'd be getting my beauty sleep!

Loving this playlist! I think I'll need to add a bit of Beyonce, too- a lady with mighty thighs and a whole lot of energy should be good encouragement for me!

I think, after all my searching, I've found the one! I was really worried about trying out a trainer without a referral, but a friend's sister was just raving about her trainer in London. She said this girl was amazing- so friendly and funny and motivating, so I was really interested. I' a bit outside of London, so it's not ideal, but..., it turns out she DOES do skype sessions, which is exactly what I was looking for! I'm going to go for one session to try it out. The gym sounds great- they've actually got a chef there, and they deliver two healthy meals to your house every day. The menu sounds divine- jerk chicken salad with mango and avo salsa?!!! Yes please! For only five pounds each- I couldn't believe it. Anyway, I'll be trying her out- she said the first session will be to chat about my lifestyle, diet and aims. Feeling excited! I'll report back on progress! If any of you ladies are interested in drooling over their chef's amazing healthy menu, here's the link: http://bamn-fit.com/assets/bamn_system_menu.pdf

Wish me luck- I'll keep you all updated!

Update:

I LOVE IT!

My first session was awesome. It wasn't intensive, it was just getting to know my new trainer (her name’s Meghan, and she is a total dynamo!) and telling her a bit about myself, and my lifestyle. She’s got all sorts of qualifications, so I feel like I’m in good hands- but she’s still super fun and approachable. She specializes in fat loss (lucky for me- I’ve got loads to lose!), and she suggested the PERFECT programme for me. They’ve got a package geared towards brides called ‘The Big Day’, which focuses on problem areas like arms and upper back. I’m so pleased about this, as my back fat and wobbly arms are my biggest worry about how I’ll look in the dress.

We did a gentle session so that she could get an idea of my fitness level (non-existent) and plan sessions around my abilities and weight loss goals. It did feel a bit weird clearing the furniture out of the lounge and having a training session with my computer, but let me tell you, I felt GREAT afterwards. It feels so encouraging having my own cheerleader!

If any of you ladies want to join in, this is the gym

I told her I was on this forum getting weightloss and exercise tips, and she said that she'd love it if I shared some of the stuff she's showing me here, and she'd be happy to answer questions and everything! I feel so childishly excited- seems like my weightloss goals are finally in sight!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
