Anyone Have Riu Montego Bay 2015 Extras Info?

Recommended Posts

@@Binzster I totally agree, the more private the better!! I will look through all my emails and stuff this weekend and send you anything I find. The planners were very nice when we met with them during our visit. I remember taking pics of the courtyard gazebo and realizing that it was way too in the middle of everyone, people sit in the bar and watch the weddings so it's a little much. Both beach set ups are much better. It's a bummer too, because the courtyard gazebo has a beautiful view of the ocean behind it.

@@Soon2beMrsJ Thanks so much, i really appreciate you looking through your stuff. I've only heard good things about the new WC's, i guess the old one's were complete idiots!! haha they would just leave you right after your ceremony, come and get you from your room late....blah blah blah...lol

Hey guys! I haven't been on this site for a while! I'd love to read or see what you have. I hope they let us just do the beach party! I really don't see the point in paying that much a head to eat at an all inclusive. I know it's an additional service and I don't mind paying a fee..but not $75 to eat.

Binzster when is your wedding?

Hi ladies,

I have finalized some of my plans, I will be having the semi-private dinner (in the steakhouse) and then a party on the beach. The dinner only has 1 sitting at 6:30-8:30pm and then the beach party is from 8:30-11pm. Staff shift end at 11pm so you cant have the party later than that, if people still want to party to disco opens at 11pm. They said to me that I only have to pay for the beach set up fee which is $700 and they will put up white sheer draping on the trees and white pepper lights, round tables for sitting and an open bar ($15 pp). She never said anything about a tent rental... I've been in contact with Christina.  @@Megg How many guests are you having?  who have you been talking to at the RIU?

I'm having Christina set up a welcome dinner in the main buffet for no extra charge because they just push some tables together and you eat at the buffet. That way the 2 families can get to know each other. I am doing this the day after everyone arrives.

I have booked DJ Kevan Stewart - He pays the vendors fee and is one the best in Jamaica. He will be set up on the beach for 2 1/2 hours and he also does the music for the ceremony at no extra cost. He has even thrown in the MC service for free, and I am getting 8 LED lights. Total came to $1030. He emailed me a list to compile of songs for each thing like processional, recessional, bridal party walk down, entrance into reception, first dance, father/daughter...and then favourite artists, fav songs, no plays and things like that. Really nice to work with!

I also booked Brian Nejedly for our photography. I looked at all the photographer photos and his style was the one that suited us best. He will be at the resort for 3 hour for: getting ready, ceremony, group shots, portraits of us after. We have also booked him to do our trash the dress the following morning. We have been discussing locations, me and the fiance like old structures so we are going to the Tryall water wheel, and then he mentioned a beautiful beach where the locals go that has a broken rusted boat sticking out of the water. We will get 500+ edited photos!! Total is $1700 - he discounts his prices by $350 for the vendors fee, which is then added onto your wedding bill.

I have already made my own bridesmaids bouquets - much cheaper than buying the fresh ones from Tai Flora. I will only be getting my bouquet and my fiances boutonniere for free. Fiance already decided his guys dont need flowers....lol

Just some advice - I would not go with the DJ onsite....charges more and you dont get as much variety. Make things as much as you can, but nothing too big. Tai Flora is expensive....

I really hope this helps some of you!!! if you have any questions please feel free to msg me. Also, I am a travel agent so if any brides have questions about locations and where to have your wedding let me know.

Talk to you all soon!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
