Anyone Have Riu Montego Bay 2015 Extras Info?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody,

We booked the Riu Montego Bay for our April 2015 wedding!!  We're taking a planning visit in May to see it and make sure it's for us, but in the meantime, does anyone have any information about the extras?  I've heard about a Beach BBQ instead of the restaurant that's included the package and was curious as to how much extra $$ that was.

Thanks for any info!  Happy planning!

Congrats! We booked ours for May 2015! We are not doing a visit. We stayed at a Riu before and are just crossing our fingers we will enjoy this one as much (and hopefully more!)

Here is what was sent to me when I asked about extras. If you send them an email, they will send you everything the offer.

I'm a little confused between the two different quotes for open bar. I was actually going to ask if I could do the semi private dinner that IS included and just pay extra for a beach party with open bar but no food or maybe with just snack foods.

Thanks so much for all the info!  Congrats on your engagement and on booking your venue! I have been working with a travel agent so I haven't had any direct contact with the wedding coordinator at the Riu yet.  We'll meet with her when we're there and get some ideas.

I really like the idea of doing the ceremony on the beach, then a private dinner at a restaurant and then a beach party with an open bar, I was wondering if they would do that.  It's on my list of questions for them when we go.

I'll take pics for you!

Great! I'd love to see real pictures and not just the ones the resort posts. When you ask about the beach party with open bar, if you remember please let me know. I'd love to be able to do that. I see no reason to have a full dinner on the beach, just the party!

I agree! I'll post all the info and pics on here once we get back, hopefully we'll get lots of questions answered while we're there. We're going Friday, May 2nd until that Monday and there are 3 weddings taking place Saturday - lots of opportunities to check out the set up and get some ideas. Without being one of those annoying people in the background of course  :)

Thanks!  :)  We're also going to visit the Royalton White Sands to compare so I'll take pics there too.  I'm hoping the Riu is awesome and we're really happy and excited to have the wedding there!!

Hi Ladies! I was thinking the exact same thing, I want to do the semi-private dinner included in my package and just have them set up a private beach party for afterwards. I think its the best of both worlds.

have you heard anything back in regards to this? or have any pics to share from when you went to visit the site?

what are your thoughts on the ceremony locations? def want the beach ceremony but not the gazebo thats right in the middle of everyone, i've read that there is one off to the side, is this true?

@Binzster  There is a gazebo on the beach to the side, people might be sitting near it when you get married but it is more secluded than the one in the middle of everything. You can also set up your own at the beach on the left that has all the palm trees for an extra fee, definitely ask the wedding planner all your options. I'll look through my notes and see if I have any of the info that the RIU planner gave us that I can pass along to you!

@Soon2beMrsJ  OMG your awesome!! if you have anything the RIU planner gave to you, please please send it my way!! :)

definitly do not want to be in the middle of everyone... i would not have a problem paying extra if the left beach site is nicer and more private

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
