When To Book All Inclusive Group Travel Packages From Canada

Picking a resort was super stressful!!   Then you move on from that and stress out if people are going to put down their deposits and commit!

Sounds like you have a great TA working behind you.

I loved Sunwing, wish we could have used them.

I have never been to the DR, so unsure of direct flights, but that sucks you have to transfer!

Good luck!

I think the resort was the worst part of decision making!  But now we have it booked and our times/dates sorted so at least we can move forward with our travel issues.

The TA is great (one of my best friend's husbands) so I know he will do a great job.  He has quotes coming in for Transat this week so I'm crossing my fingers - I really like flying Transat!

There should be some direct coming up soon - but let's be honest.  Its 6.5 hours to the DR from here, so a transfer wouldn't kill anyone if its quick.

I guess when I was 26 and going on my first vacation, I didn't even care about the travel time!!

I'm generally the flyer who will do whatever for the best price. Ok more than 2 connectors maybe not, but 1 is ok. With the wedding though I'd like to avoid it as I realize more connectors more handling of luggage.

Good luck!!!

As an FYI for any Calgary potential brides in PC.

My travel agent has just confirmed that Transat, WestJet, and Sunwing have all discontinued their direct service to Punta Cana from Calgary as of April 2015.  So any travellers will need to connect through Toronto.

This means that for easy booking, you are really restricted to Westjet or Air Canada.  Transat and Sunwing will depart out of Toronto, but that means anyone coming from the west will need to book their own flight to Toronto to take these trips.  At least with a Westjet or Air Canada (Sunquest is using Westjet for flights) you can book connecting flights, still at a decent discount.

When I ran a search today, it was $567 round trip YYC-YYZ on my travel dates, plus $1333 for the trip from YYZ totaling $1900.  Whereas if I do the flights connecting, the cost goes to $1667 after taxes.  A difference of $250 almost!!

Our connectors for our guests are shockingly cheaper!!! $250-400 cheaper. Maybe It's their incentive to book with them and they should!!

Sucks about that flight. DR is on my list for the next tropical trip I take.

^^ maybe but she did mention the other tour operators like Sunwing and Transat were only flying from Toronto. Otherwise the bigger guys like AC are already here in Calgary doing direct flights.

That sucks that they discontinued their direct service, I love Westjet, and don't mind Transat. I'm not even looking until 2016, but hopefully something will  change :)

It could be a seasonal change as well - I know travel goes down in the summer so perhaps it is just until the seasons pick up again.

I actually like the idea of a transfer - my mum is going to fly to YYZ early so she doesn't have a long travel day (she'll stay with her sister for a day or two before), whereas me, my FI and my friends will do the flight transfers.  I like that I can get on an airplane here, stretch my legs and grab a bite in YYZ and then head on down to PC.  Since WJ doesn't serve meals, a 6.5 hour flight would have been difficult with them.

I'm still upset that there isn't a first class option for travel though - Flex is ok, but I had always planned to fly first class for my wedding because its the one thing I would splurge on :(

Choose plus!!! I use this for business travel and it includes all food and alcoholic/non alcoholic drinks (anything you normally purchase), extra baggage and leg room as well as ear buds and tablets if they are used on your flight.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
