@@calgarybride2015 when you split your block with EDR, were they able to still apply all of the inclusions?  Our TA told me that she wasn't sure we would still get our "book 10 rooms get one free" deal.  After speaking with her, the only other suggestion we can offer guests who are looking to pay less is to stay at EDR.  After you add up the day pass ($100 pp), travel to the hotel, and the restrictions on the day pass, you aren't really saving money staying anywhere else.

@@kfracassi I also asked my TA about doing 2 nights 3 days and she said that it's possible but they would not be counted toward our room block and would have to pay the current rate at the resort at the time of booking.

Being sympathetic to some of my guests limitations I thought I could offer that one suggestion and let it be. Ultimately I agree with everyone else, those that want to be there will try their hardest to make it.  We will let it be known that we understand if not every one can.

@@CnBWedding - I would "encourage" your TA to look into that.  Our block is split between Generations & EDR (with the majority staying at EDR) and we received all of our eligible perks (except the $1000 credit on Memorable Moments Ceremony Decor - I am not using one of those packages for the ceremony).

As for guests, trust me, you will be surprised, especially the closer it gets to needing to close out your block.  People I thought sure would be there (either based on closeness or the fact they said they were coming) aren't and I have a lot of "surprises" (people who I didn't think would come for various reasons who are).  The most serious will put down a deposit quickly once you announce the booking info. :)

Does anyone happen to know the measurements for the pier?  I figured I would check here first since it will take a while for the WC to get back to me.  I'm trying to do an interactive seating chart over at weddingwire.com

@@girlinthecity97 My TA just got back to me.  We can have adult guests stay at EDR and receive credit for our wedding :-) Phew that's good news!

I don't know the measurements but our wedding coordinator told me that it seats 80 people max comfortably.  I don't know if that helps.  I did not know weddingwire has an interactive seating chart.  Good to know!

@@CnBWedding - YAY!  If she'd told you otherwise, I would be  for you and raised a fuss! :D  The wedding wire seating and list organizer etc is a GEM.  Too bad I didn't think about using this before.

Is anyone else having major issues with the seating chart?  If i have us share a table with family then I'm ok.  If we do a sweetheart table (which we planned for then I end up needing another table.  I learned of 2 more guests today! so it's throwing the numbers off.

@@girlinthecity97 The seating chart is driving me nuts!  The FH wants to encourage people to mingle, but my view is to just put people together that you know will want to be together.  They will have already spent 3 days "mingling" with the group so I figured for the 45 minutes of dinner, its no big deal if all the people who already know each other are at the same table. On the sweetheart table thing... I feel like it's definitely worth it.  I hear that you don't get much time together on the big day, so it will be nice to have a place for us only even if it's just a little while.

Lomas was giving me a hard time about table numbers!  We are bringing our own (they just go directly into the flower arrangement), so we didn't have to worry about frames.  What are you doing for escort cards?

Also - you mentioned that you are bringing your own menus, are they charging you the setup fee for those? I was going to have a girlfriend put on on each place setting before the ceremony, so there's no real reason they should charge us $5/pp for menus.

@@lauralane Are you getting excited!?!  We are getting married on the same day!  Do you happen to know what the "backup" location is in case of rain?  We're doing the SkyDeck, I think I recalled you said you had picked the pier?

@@girlinthecity97 and @@ChiTiff - omg yes to the seating chart last night!! I never got why people thought it was such a big deal but it's honestly like a game of chess! I really, really like the idea of a sweetheart table... is Lomas charging extra for that? (Let me guess...!)

@@ChiTiff - wait, you're April 25 right? Or did you bump it up? I'm March 7th -- it would be so cool if you were there at the same time! We're doing the pier for the ceremony + cocktail hour, and the sky deck for the reception at night. Also.... as a Chicago friend... HOW EXCITED ARE YOU to get the hell out of this madness?!

Have either of you girls figured out what to do about a rehearsal? I think someone was talking about trying to get the hotel to allow this. We requested it and they said no, of course... I sort of understand because the pier is a public area, but I was hoping to bring it up again once we get down there. The fiance is of the opinion that we don't need one but I do not want it to be a big mess walking down the aisle! I am sort of considering designating an area of the beach and just winging it the morning before or something as a last resort!

I am so excited but a little overwhelmed too! My second-to-last dress fitting is tonight... another step :)

@@ChiTiff oh, and this is ridiculous to type but I honestly have not thought even ONCE about a backup location and rain! :o  (Huge DUH moment!) I just hopped on the Lomas chat thing to ask but no one is answering so I'm hoping they email me back and I'll share.

With any luck, it would be a closeout of one of their restaurants, all of which are gorgeous and I'd be really happy with. The only thing I'd be a little bummed about would be a ballroom-like setting because I feel like I don't have nearly enough decor for that... I'm sort of counting on the pretty outdoor setting to do a lot of the work for me! We did a tour of the property though and didn't see any rooms like that though, so now I'm really curious. I'll let you know what I find out!

Sorry I didn't wed at your location, just was being supportive of the original post about DW being hard!

@@lauralane I didn't realize you were getting married so soon!  I'm still 4/25, but I bet you are dying to get to Mexico after the foot of snow we've been in lately!  Can't wait to see your wedding pictures!

Good to know the ballrooms are the backups... so frustrated by the chats with Lomas (or emails)... I feel like they just tell you "no" for everything, but maybe I'm just annoyed by the language barrier?  I'm not sure if that means they actually would help out with extra decor, or we'd have to buy it?  I'm also hoping the location will be my "natural" decor so without it, the ballroom is going to be very sparse!

@@ChiTiff I totally agree on the constant "no"s... it's so frustrating. I'm to the point that I don't even get upset about it anymore (I'm numb to it!) and I just figure I'm going to go with the flow, and figure a lot out on site. I will share whatever I can learn from this one darn meeting that seems to be the key to EVERYTHING on here so you guys at least have a little heads up!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
