Photographers In Playa Or Cozumel

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I have been looking around the forums, but I can't find much information about photographers in Playa  or Cozumel (especially Cozumel). Does anyone have any recommendations? I suppose I can fly one down from Houston, but I think that would be much more expensive. Please let me know if you have any recommendations. Thanks so much!!

I've been looking too this past week and it seems like most of the basic packages for 3 hours start at $1600.  Yikes!  Around here in Chicago you can get an amazing photographer all day for $1000-$1200.

Del Sol is the best, but they start at over $3000.  I had about 5 other quotes and a few were willing to come down in pricing.  I had one come down from $1600 to $1000.  They say everything is negotiable.  So if there is something you want, it doesn't hurt to ask them to work with you on pricing.  Good luck!

Just curious how you're deciding how much time you want? I'm wondering about the difference between 3 and 4 hours in terms of what you actually get. 3 hours seems awfully short when I think about it, so I'm leaning towards 4. But still thinking about it.

That's good to know. There were a couple that I looked at and dismissed them because the rates were just too high. I did have one that offered, without being asked, to work with me on price mostly because ours is a vow renewal and our group will be really, really small (if anyone actually does end up going with us! lol) So far that one is at the top of my list!

I think 3 hours is just too short too. I want photos of me getting ready, my Catholic ceremony (which is about an hour), then part of the reception.

My ceremony will be at 5pm.  I figure I will be done getting ready by 4:30 to be on the safe side.  So that means I need a photographer to be at my location to capture us getting ready around 3:30pm, or even earlier.  Depends on when the makeup and hair person will be there.  Reception starts at 6pm, food at 7, dancing at 8pm.  That would give us enough time to take photos after the ceremony of just us, plus some guests, any speeces, some dancing and cake cutting.  I'm hoping to get them until 8:30pm at least.

So I will have to work some magic to ge them to cover more time.  My friend's husband is a photographer so I might ask them to do the before the ceremony shots.  I want them to sit and relax at a wedding for once.  I'd also like to do a 'Trash the Dress' shoot the next day so I'm going to see if I can work both into my package.  I will be moving from the hotel to the chapel and then chapel to the reception so I'm wasting time by moving all over.  If you're just doing one venue like a hotel, you may be able to get all that in 4 hours.

I am just looking now, but I won't be booking a photog for another couple months.  Can you let me know what you end up with?  It's scary because photos are so important, but at the same time, it's so hard to pay that kind of money.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
