Hey everyone! I was wondering if any brides would be willing to share some of their photos from their wedding day?!? I am debating on where at the resort to have my wedding and reception next February.

If anyone has any of the following types of photos to share that would be great!!

the amphitheater (reception)

beach ceremony

reception on the beach

beach gazebo ceremony

Thanks for your help!

HI,

how are you doing with your wedding planning at Melia. You seem to be the only person other than myself getting married there in 2015. Have you decided on your reception location or anything yet? are you going with the resort photographer?

Hey there! So far pretty good...I think :). I chose the Tropical Fairy Tale Package and am going with the ceremony at the Beach Gazebo and then having my reception at the Agora Grill (which is the covered area right on the beach). Other than that, I haven't really done anything or made any other decisions. Last time I talked to the WC, which was a couple of weeks ago, I asked her to make an appointment for my MOH and me at the salon for our hair and make up but I have yet to hear anything back. In terms of the photographer I think I am going to spend the additional $1000 and bring in an outside photographer from the area. Based on a little research and reviews I am either going to go with HDC or Photo Souvenir. They both currently have the openings for the day I am getting married and they both offer a trash the dress photo option. Now I just have to decide... :)

How is your wedding planning going?

oooh so glad you brought that up. I actually was on the fence about getting an outside photographer and paying that $1000 fee but I didn't like the resort photos I have seen and they weren't giving you a whole lot for your money. Just this morning I decided I am going with the outside photographer and the one I picked was HDC. I sent my money to them and they confirmed my booking. I seen their pictures based from the reviews just solely on this site. The first time I looked at the photos' I think I pretty much had my mind set and was trying to justify that extra $1000 I had to pay for the fee. The guy who contacted me from HDC though said that we can waive that $1000 fee if we book the photographer for a 3 night stay. He said that it will most likely be cheaper than paying the $1000. So I am going to look into that as well. Either way I have him booked and will have to pay something extra above and beyond the package.

At the resort, I selected the Melia Wedding Package mainly because we aren't having our reception at the hotel and we are going with it on La Barcaza instead. SO I didn't feel I needed any of the other packages. I have my wedding booked at 2pm and then the reception on the boat is at 5:00pm. I am hoping to book a cocktail hour in between though to fill in the time in between. I actually only put my deposit down on the resort last week and now everything else is seeming to flow along ever since. I had the co-ordinator contact me earlier about starting the plans at the resort. Other than what I mentioned I have no idea what else I am doing. I don't know any of the finer details yet. Everything is an add on and I am trying to keep the cost down as much as possible but every little thing you would like to have costs money.

So usually how long before the wedding do you start planning the details of the actual wedding at the resort. I pretty much have the main things booked like wedding date for the resort, photography, and wedding reception. I just don't know the details of each yet. I figure I have a lot of the big stuff out of the way and I think I am doing good with timing considering it's just a little under a year away.

That was my only thing that was holding me back too was the $1000 fee...which is crazy by the way...but after looking at the resorts photos nothing really stood out to me like others outside of the resort. HDC is the one I am leaning towards as well...they seem to be pretty fairly priced for what you get. Another photographer I was emailing said the same thing, that it would probably be cheaper just to book the 3 nights instead of paying the fee...definitely something to look into!

In terms of details, I haven't done anything else either...not sure if there is anything else to do? LOL People at home keep asking how wedding planning is going and I swear I never have anything to report because I feel most of what I needed to do, besides flight arrangements, are now out of the way. Right now waiting on flight information (which finally just came out and is more than what we thought it was going to be) and starting to get people booked for their trip seems to be a little rocky but I'm sure it will all iron itself out here soon and go more smoothly...

I heard that the resort WC will get a hold of you a few weeks before your wedding to secure the finer details, so unless I have questions, I feel I have nothing to worry about once I get the photographer out of the way.

I know that we going to have a friend perform our ceremony instead of having someone there do it. Our wedding is small: me, my fiancé, MOH and best man. Since this is a DW, I am trying to keep things and simple and as stress free as possible. :)

yeah the flight prices can be a little crazy. It seems like I have been searching and searching and finally I think I ended up getting a price as low as I can possibly get. So just last week I secured that as well. My Toronto guests are $1450 and St. John's guests are $1690 with taxes in. This is the lowest I have gotten yet. Everything else has been coming back in the $2000 range. I felt if I didn't book it while it is decent, then it would probably end up going up if I didn't get that price. Maybe it will go lower the longer I wait, I have no idea. but I didn't want to take a chance on it. Did you secure any travel prices yet?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
