Hey Everyone!

I joined this site a week ago and really love connecting with everyone so far.  This site is definitely the most comprehensive site available for destination weddings.  I've really loved reading everyone's stories, questions, and experiences.  I wanted to start an ice breaker topic for those of us who have a while to go till our weddings.

My fiancee and I are planning for October or late November at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria in Cuba.  He proposed to me after our city's local santa clause parade in the park overlooking a river.  It was the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me.  I can't wait till we actually start planning our wedding.

Are there any brides getting married in 2014, 2015, or 2016?  If so, where are you getting married and when?  Also, share some details about your proposal.

Happy Planning!

-Dia

Grand Palladium Punta Cana April fools 2015, he proposed on April Fools of 2013 in the morning and I thought it was a joke until he drove me to a store to pick out a ring that evening. This April fools we will celebrate our 8th year together :)

On Thanksgiving Day 2013, Fi came over to fix me breakfast. Not knowing it, he hid the ring under 2 pieces of paper towels folded up like a napkin. Unfortunately, when I went to use it, I tore the paper towel in half. The ring was still hidden. He did everything to get me to pick up the other half of the paper towel, but I never did.

Finally, Fi began playing the song, "Time for Love" from the Chi-Lites, he lifted up the paper towel and revealed the ring. That is when he proposed, and I said "YES!!"

We are getting married Thanksgiving Day 2015 at Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica. I guess we are just both thankful that God brought us together.

I love hearing these stories! Congrats everyone! We are getting married in May 2015 in Negril, Jamaica. Soooo excited for our wedding! We have been together for 6 years, and we also dated for 4 years back in high school but went our own ways for awhile after that until life brought us back together! We have a 2.5 year old son and are expecting baby #2 this June!

I truly thought we would never get married, and that was OK. We are pretty nontraditional and we both felt that was not a huge priority for us as we are happy and feel fully committed as is. That being said, I was completely shocked when I opened up a  shoe box on Christmas morning to find an engagement ring! Of course I said yes, and I honestly never knew how excited I would feel to marry this man until now!

Congrats! Negril is beautiful! We were there for a friends wedding this past December and it was AWESOME!!! We stayed at the sunset at the palms ( BEAUTIFUL!) but she had her wedding at another resort I forget the name of it now not it was on the cliffs and it had a white and blue lighthouse...it was breathtaking!! I'm positive you will have a beautiful wedding and a great time in Negril! If you go to bloody bay beach there is a beach performer there named Damian that sings and whistles so well you think that cartoon Disney birds are going to fly down and land on him!! Loved him! Happy Planning!

Congratulations ladies!!! We are getting married Jan 2015 in Playa del Carmen Mexico!! I am so excited!!! I can't wait for it to get here!!! I'm in the planning stages now!! Actually I feel like I've gotten all of the big things finished already!! After much review we chose the Riviera Maya area and chose to have the wedding at the Gran Porto Real...  This resort met the price range which we wanted for our guests... We booked the resort and flight a few weeks ago, basically as soon as my TA had the contracted room prices and the flights were available!! i just couldn't stand to wait any longer!!! :)

After doing much research on the resort photographer, we decided that we did not want to use them and needed to start the hunt for an outside photographer... We did A LOT more research and finally picked and booked with Dean Sanderson Photography!! We just fell in love with his photographs--Plus they have been so great to work with!!!  Dean is a Canadian photographer that moved to Mexico years ago... Dean also helped us choose our videographer!!  We originally were just going to have a family member do the video of the ceremony, but we decided that this was something that we wanted to have done professionally... It was just too important.... We booked Mike Cantarell--with Cancun Wedding Videos--he has some AMAZING work!! If you love to watch wedding vidoes, check his out! They really are great!

Dean also gave us suggestions for our DJ- which we were able to negotiate pricing to balance out the outside vendor fee that my resort charges!!

Sorry I shared so much! I'm just so excited!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
