Hi! Congrats!! I'm getting married at Riu in Ocho Rios too and was wondering how your planning is going? Did u decide to go with the private or semi private reception? Also, did u find a photographer? any advice? Help!! Lol!!

Hope all is well with the panning...I am still deciding between the private and semi, what are your thoughts? I did find a photographer, after lots of reviews and a toos up between some of the best on the island we have decided to bring our own with us, when it came down to it, it was between a level of comfort for us and we know our photograhper really well..right now im stuck with trying to decide on if I want to do my trash the dress the same day as the wedding or another day? I really dont want to get back into the wedding dress again once i take it off lol

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you want your wedding in peak season the earlier the better :). 

 

I lied actually, I guess I've been planning since January 2013! When I got engaged haha. I started doing the little things like research and getting a general picture of what I wanted. This June we booked the hotel and that's when things really got rolling. There's only so much you can plan without reserving anything. If you don't have as much time as I had definitely talk to a travel agent to get some guidance about what resorts fit your budget and your vision for your wedding. I can certainly recommend mine if you live in Canada.

 

The planning process hasn't been stressful because we have so much time, I'm actually really enjoying it but it is a big step in our lives and I found that sometimes getting used to that can be a little challenging (we don't live together so it is a really big step for us at least!). Having lots of time helps you adjust slowly and also it's easier on the wallet. We are trying to buy things slowly month to month rather than making huge payments on everything.

My FI and I have a date in mind for next November and after reading this forum I am wondering if I should already be trying to book the date. The problem is that we are still waiting for our TA to get back to us on prices of the resorts we have narrowed it down to but as of last week she can only access prices up until October of 2015.

Ahhh what to do?

@@MissJen3 I am a TA and I have a bride getting married in Nov 2015. If she just contacts the company they will be able to get the prices for November 2015. I have already gotten quotes for that month :)

Ahhh ! This is disappointing because I love my TA and so far she has been excellent for us. She has been dealing with all my questions and emails for a month already. But Im not sure how much longer I should wait.

That is amazing. Might be time for me to look for another agent :-(

 

I would ask your TA to get you manual quote. If you like her and feel confident that she will be helpful during your process then keep her- but many less experienced TAs don't realize that they can work with the tour operators and get pricing further out than the standard 12 months, but that they need to submit the request manually. Tell her that other brides have gotten pricing and are already booking and you don't want to miss out!

 

I'm sure your TA will come through! If she is still unable to do so, then I would reconsider.

A few of us brides here all use the same Canadian TA who is fabulous and I don't mind sharing her info if you are interested.

@@MissJen3 Maybe just mention to her that you have heard that other travel agents have been able to secure and book travel for Nov 2015 and see what she says.

Hi Ladies! Congrats 2 u all! I have a question...am i planning 2 early for my wedding which is in May of 2015 or is it ok 2 start? If not, when should i begin planning? This site BDW is so complete that I can´t not stop thinking about it. My priorities : wedding dress and Photo session.

Its's never to early. I'm getting married 10-23-2015 and at the hotel i wanted to get married the date was already booked. So I would suggest getting in contact with the hotel or venue of your choice asap. 

 

I'm currently working with different Travel agents, I have chosen my save the dates. And currently thinking about centerpiece ideas.

 

Hope that helps. O yea read all the small fine print (watch out for vendor fees) and ask lots of questions.

I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners.
