Help! Secrets Capri Or Paradisus La Perla?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I need advice for picking a venue for a November 2014 wedding. I haven't seen too much information on this site about a recent wedding at Secrets Capri and it seems that having a wedding at Paradisus La Perla can run very smooth (and expensive) or NOT. Are there any 2013 brides that can give me some advice for a 50 person wedding regarding these two resorts?

Thank you!!

I'm not married yet, but I actually forfeited my deposit at Paradisus because we booked it sight-unseen and upon visiting the resort, we were SO disappointed. It is very expensive, there are few options, and while the resort itself is gorgeous, the area is not, the beach is terrible (covered in seaweed and not private), and the staff overall was very unaccomodating (we were booked for La Perla and upon check in were moved to the kid side just for starters). I'm not sure how helpful this is since I don't know anything about Secrets, but thought I'd throw it in there.

Hi everyone,

I need advice for picking a venue for a November 2014 wedding. Thank you!!

I am getting married at Secrets Capri, May of next year :)  It was an extremely hard decision to make, seeing as, my fiance and I have never been to the resort.  We have mainly stayed at Riu's and found it time, to stay at an all adults (huge plus for us), and a place that is smaller and more intimate.

I picked Capri, based upon MUCH research that I did online, and emailing other brides who I have found from this website as well as searching "secrets capri wedding" on google.   A lot of photo results, which looked great, and came with reviews from brides as well.   I also did MANY searches on tripadvisor to see reviews/pictures of the resort, and 99% of what I read and saw, was positive.

I have also researched photographers websites to get a glimpse of what the weddings/receptions look like as well.  delsolphotography, has done a few weddings over there, and was pretty much the closing decision for us.

We will be having a smaller wedding celebration, about 20 people.  Carolina is a busy woman, but has sent me all the info I need, and we have secured our date.   We won't get much for stuff, until the date is closer.   All packages, I must say though at EVERY resort is pretty much copy/paste and the same thing.  Not much variety, but whatever, we're getting a mariachi trio, so we're stoked.

I hope my input has somewhat helped you.  If you want something smaller, private and great service I'd take Capri.  I haven't heard too much about the other one, so research the crap out of it ;)  choosing a place to celebrate forever is definitely not an easy choice to make.

Good luck.

Thank you for the responses! I actually picked Secrets Capri and will be getting married in November (50 guests). I did a lot of research and wanted a smaller hotel. There isn't a lot of current Secrets Capri information on this site so if any brides need input or want to know what went great and what didn't (crossing my fingers), let me know!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
