I only want to take my mom but feel so pressured to have more people with me! I feel like it's out-of-the-norm to not bring a huge group. But, I'm hoping that's just a skewed view from watching to many episodes of Say Yes To The Dress.

On another note, Has anyone brought a male family member dress shopping?

@@LauraM I only really went with my mom. Or that's what I really wanted to do... I did go with just her one day and then my MIL came with us the other day.

SYTTD has totally made the huge posse for shopping seem the norm, but it isn't. I think it's all about being on TV..

in fact, most salons will ask you to limit your party to 1 or 2 guests, as they simply don't have room for every bride to bring her entire bridal party. I'd certainly ask before taking a huge group to any salon to make sure they can accomodate you!

the other thing too, if you watch SYTTD, the bigger the posse, the harder the final decision seems to be just because there is so much disagreement on what the bride should be wearing! lol

I'm not inviting my future MIL.  I love her, and she is close enough but I'd rather just have a trip with my mom (who lives in another state - I am visting her next month and we're going to try on dresses) and then again with my girls just for fun.  My future MIL hasn't even mentioned it!

Hi, I think you should go for shopping with your mom rather than your future MIL as you don't know much about her and also your Mother-in-law don't know your like and dislike but your mother can help you a lot in this regard.

So my advice is go with your mother and select the best dress for your wedding

I hate shopping in general ..I know I'm a weirdo...but I find it frustrating because I don't know what fits my body and I have a hard time with pushy sales people, I am weak. The first time I went dress shopping I went alone... none of my family or best friends live near me..it was a bad idea! I almost got pushed into a dress that was out of my budget that I didn't even really like!

The second time my neighbour went with me...she's a shopper and very fashionable! She stood up to the sales people for me and I had someone to laugh at some of the dresses with... Way more fun... Still no dress... But now I know what I'm looking for...third time is the charm right?

My suggestion is take the person or people that you will have the best experience with...don't take people because you think you have to...don't take your best friend if she's pushy, don't take your MIL if it's awkward...take the person you will have the most fun with and will let you make your own decision but keep you from looking like a wreck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
