Tom Moks Photography

I'm not writing this second review to be petty. I'm writing this review so that future brides don't make the same mistakes I did. I planned my destination wedding for 1.5 years. I researched and read reviews about vendors. When booking Tom as my photographer I came across a few bad reviews, but was so mesmerized by his beautiful pictures on his site that I disregarded them. I regret that now. Future brides please research your vendors and take those reviews seriously. These people you hire will be a big part of your day... make sure you are choosing wisely.

After writing my previous review I received a very unprofessional email from Tom. He wouldn't reply to my emails saying I was disappointed in the lack of photo's he had sent, but sure had something to say about my review.

Most of this email doesn't make sense. I paid for his transportation. The discount he gave me was because I didn't want the photo book or prints.

Here is a look at how unprofessional this photographer is. Again, I am posting this second review because I just don't want any other bride to have to experience this!

"Hi Erica

Just sow your horrible revives online.

I think this is ungrateful low class behavior to be so not hones about my service.

I have never been rude to you and I have delivered beautiful photos.

You have asked me for discount and I did give discount and you never have say thank you for that I did travel for free to your location  and you never say thank you.

He was pretty much running through this rocky area trying to get pictures of my husband and I and I was in heals... very thankful I didn't fall or injure myself!!

What is this abut !!! I was running because I was trading to get as much is passible is not my fold that you did not plan your hair done earlier and you choose rocky area for your wedding.

I ended up falling out of a hammock

Is not my fold also that you dont know how to sit in hammock you even sed " I´m sorry I forgot to tall you im very clumsy " I remember this very wall.

I generally have this feeling that you never happy person and you always nervous abut every think.

You should be a shame of your self writing this I did my best to give you beautiful photos and I think this so sad to receive this after all.

Best of luck "

I recently was married at Las Caletas and had Tom Moks for our wedding photographer. I stumbled upon his work on Instagram and was captivated by the colors, authenticity, and ease of his photos. Each couple looked stunning and the moments they shared looked so passionate and pure. After reaching out to Tom, via email from his website, he responded a couple days later and we discussed his availability for our wedding date. I had to have him! Before I pulled the trigger and finalized down payments though, I decided to research some more and check out his reviews just to be safe. I came to this review thread and was so disappointed when I read about what brides were saying about their experiences.  I had it set it my mind that Tom would be our photographer and felt confused and scared to move forward with him. I had said from the beginning of the wedding planning (and heard from many previous brides) that photography is perhaps the most important money you will spend during your wedding planning and to not be frugal. Cautiously and anxiously, I decided to give a shot, fingers-crossed, and go with Tom.

What I can tell anyone that stumbles across this page, like I did a few months ago, was that Tom was without a doubt the most incredible, talented, kind-hearted, genuine, hardworking, genius creator and capturer I’ve ever met or witnessed! From start to finish, Tom was honest, helpful, and easy going!

We decided to go with the package that gave us the opportunity to do a “Couples Shoot” before the actual wedding day (we decided to do this instead of traditional engagement pictures back home in Chicago as we loved the historic beauty and colors of downtown Puerto Vallarta.) Before the shoot, Tom and I had several phone conversations, in which we discussed all the logistics and details to the shoot. He answered my questions, gave me honest and real responses, and I told him we’d follow his lead. We chose to trust him and not overthink or plan out what we wanted. We trusted him to guide us and deliver amazing photo. And he did JUST THAT. I typically HATE taking pictures and feel so uncomfortable the second the lens is pointed in my direction. But Tom made this experience not only doable, but enjoyable! He made me feel beautiful, he made me feel comfortable, he made me feel amazing!

If you’re looking for someone who won’t be honest and candid with you, if you’re not able to take constructive feedback, if you’re not willing to laugh at yourself and your awkwardness, if you’re not willing to trust his process and let go of the control, Tom Moks may not be the photographer for you.

If you’re looking for photos back the next day or even next couple weeks, Tom may not be the photographer for you. Just know, he is an artist who is capturing moments that will last a lifetime. There should be no rush for that. I was MORE than happy waiting a couple of months for my photographs because they were the most stunning and incredible photos I’ve ever seen of myself and my husband. It was worth the wait.

I cannot thank Tom Moks enough for the work he did for my husband and I. He was present every step of the way and went above and beyond to capture each moment. I genuinely will miss him and hope you all get to experience the same feeling we did with Tom as your photographer!

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for sharing your experience about Tom Moks.
We have read it very careful before we booked.

But at the end of the day we were very happy with his service.

I consider myself as a difficult customer but this time everything went just smooth.
We had our wedding in Sayulita, close to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. He came on time, he stayed with us late night.

After all we had to wait like 3weeks to receive the pictures, but we LOVED them.
He sent us more pictures that he promises in the contract, and in 85% they were perfect.

The other 15% we asked him to edit once more, and he did it, without hesitation.

This is his official Instagram:

Personally I would buy his service again, but the decision is always yours.

E.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
