Hi, I'm getting married here next year and I've been to this resort but it is so big, I never saw the whole thing! I was wondering if there was a bar close to the sunset gazebo where I can have all my guests meet for a drink before the wedding at 4:00pm. Possibly the Platinum Sunset building? The Platinum Riviera building had people sitting around in it and on the website it lists a bar in both the Riviera and Sunset platinum. As well as the lobby ones but I'm looking for near the beach. Has anyone stayed here and can confirm a bar for me?

We stayed in the Yucatan building so I don't know whats at the other platinum buildings.

Thanks for the map! I was wishing I had taken one from the resort! Do you know if there's an indoor bar at the Sunset Platinum building? I was thinking that might be a closer alternative.

I was also wondering if anyone purchased the cocktail hour on the beach after the ceremony. Depending on the price I was considering that instead of the champagne toast. I booked the infinity package so that I can pick and choose what I would like . But it depends on the cost. Do they charge per person like the toast?

I don't want the full beach party. That's way too much money. The'll be around 50 of us. It's too early for the WC to have next years prices so I don't even have this years except for photos, cakes and flowers and menus.

We don't want to do the legal ceremony in Mexico as we don't want to be there 4 days before getting married and we don't want to deal with getting the blood work done. Can we go to mexico-Grand Riviera Princess with our family, have the symbolic wedding ceremony and then get legally married once we return home from Mexico???? Or do we have to be legally married before we go???????

I was told to do the renewal of vows you didn't need anything. But there's a romance pkg for honeymooners if you show proof of recent marriage. Things like sparkling wine in your room, nightly turn down service. Stuff like that. Fruit basket in your room.

Has anyone booked a group excursion from the resort with your wedding guests? I would like to do a snorkel catamaran trip but have the people going , pay for their own portion. I though maybe if we're staying in the Platinum section, the concierge could help with it.

@@Chafe - I would think you would want to get married before hand? (vs. after) That way when you go through the ceremony with all your family/friends, you actually ARE married, and it will make it a bit more special.

@@dockgirl - We were there for a wedding in Oct 2012 and there is a bar next to the Sunset Gazebo called the "Chill Out Bar" but it is a premium area where even all-inclusive guests have to pay extra.

As for excursions, the wedding we went to only had 23 guests but we booked a catamaran with Fat Cat I think. Our Sunwing rep organized it all and each person just had to drop by their little office in the lobby to pay. There was other people on the boat not in our party, but if you had a large group you could probably rent the whole boat. (This was the case when we did a catamaran for a wedding in Dominican, there was 52 of us!).

Hope that helps! I think I'm going to get married at the princess next year too.. but still so many questions! :|

Thanks Nikki! we're flying Westjet Vacations so I'll see if they can do the same thing. I'm sure my guests won't have a problem finding a drink before hand. They can go to the Sunset Platinum lounge on the way down if need be.

Oh, and I got the price of the cocktail hour. $15 per person. That's this years price thou.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
