Are Engagement Pictures Really Necessary?

Recommended Posts

If we had the money and liked our weights we would have done some but we decided against them because the fiancée hates pics and we didn't want to spend the extra cash and we also were planning to lose a lot of weight before our wedding so we didn't feel comfortable taking engagement pics at our weights at the time. I would've liked them had none of these factors played a role lol.

Yeah I can understand that. You guys can still get some professional photos done on your 1st year anniversary or something if you still really want them :)

To save on the cost I didn't seek out someone advertising 'engagement photos'  because they were soooo overpriced. I just looked for a photog who charged per hour who would let us do a mix of everything!  We did us, the kids, and family photos. I spent $200 for 90 minutes and get them all edited on disc.  Will let you know in a couple weeks if it was worth it!!!

EDIT: and once you are at your goal weights it will be a nice reward for that too :)  I love taking pics now.... it's a nice memory to look back over when I am having a bad day!

Yea I def don't wanna pay a ton of money after we're already married lol! I can't wait to get to my goal! It feels so slow. I can see the change in my clothing but that's about it. To me I look the same, even though everyone else sees a change. I wish I could see what they do!

You will get there!  Takes a long time for your brain to catch up!!  Some days I wonder what people are thinking too, but you will get there.  All numbers, big or small, add up to big numbers.  That is why I took a lot of pictures during my journey and I kept one outfit from the beginning. When I have a downer day or forget what I have accomplished I put it on.  You may not believe this, but I can fit in one pant leg of my old jeans!  Even though some days I feel like the old Kim - which is completely impossible!

Yea even though I see no change I'm trying to take pictures because I know later I'll regret not having any to compare lol. Wow that's amazing! I'm definitely keeping some old clothes....a lot of my clothes right now have to be donated. I have one pair of jeans I just bought because all of my jeans were too big :) Luckily I had a couple of t-shirts and tanks that were fitted so now they're pretty loose but still wearable. The good and bad thing about losing weight is having to buy new clothes!

We haven't done engagement pictures, eventually I hope to get to them but it doesn't have to be immediate I guess. It can be anytime we are ready to head outside with either a tripod or a friend shooting us

I keep going back and forth on taking engagement pictures. I want to take some but not really sure.

You know we don't really regret it most of the time. Once in a while I wish we had done them but really more for a keepsake rather than because we actually needed them. We can always do them after the wedding when we have a bit more money :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
