Are Engagement Pictures Really Necessary?

Recommended Posts

@@TinkerSofi - I have the same thought. It's like, I really like e-photos and it's nice to have some professional photos of the two of you AND I've seen couples re-use the photos for several things. BUT at the same time, I would like to save the money and splurge on a great wedding photog and do a trash the dress session. So many decisions!!!

We are not doing eng photos but instead using pics we've accumulated through the years on our wedding website. We would rather use the money for something else.

Not necessary. Do as you wish. I didn't do any. We always take pics and have so many of us together that we felt it unnecessary.

Rather put that money elsewhere.

I think they do end up looking really nice but I find they can be a little cheesy

Definitely! I think it all goes in hiring the right photographer. However, those are always the expensive ones haha

We didn't do official engagement pictures so to speak......my FI proposed in Cancun last year, while we were at a wedding there.  That resort offered resort credits and we used some of the resort credits for a photo shoot.  It was really nice to have some memories of our trip there since that is where he proposed.

I've never really understood the importance of engagement photos.

I personally would rather use photos from vacations that FI and I have taken together instead.

To me it just seems like an unnecessary added expense... there's way too many ways to waste money when planning a wedding!!  You just gotta filter through everything and decide where you want your money to be spent.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
