Hi,

Am new to the site but am hopefully booking my wedding for the 27th April. Just wondering if anyone has any pictures of the private reception venues available?

Trying to find some but not having much luck.

Starting to feel a bit nervous now.

My email address is sabeena_c@hotmail.com

Thank you

@@Soon2beMrsJ would you please be able to send the images you have to me? Sabeena_c@hotmail.com

Thank you so much

@@CherJK no way! it will be here before we know it! I cant wait!

We have about 70 people coming to the wedding, booking was just a pain because it was all done through the ONE email and people were having trouble getting responses. We FINALLY got it all figured out though after dealing with their corporate office. You guys did not have any trouble? We read so many reviews about this place and NEVER saw a bad review about booking for a group so I thought it was strange.

I want to do a private reception since I heard with the semi-private or the restaurant ones you cannot play your own music. but we haven't started planning that stuff yet so we will have to find out. We want to be able to play our own music and dance!

Does anyone have any input on which type of reception venue to go with? And is it true that you cannot play your own music if it is not a private reception venue?

Hey ladies! I've been super busy planning and dress shopping too ????. I am getting really nervous about the cost smh. We originally planned to have a beach reception with the gazebo and dance floor $$$$$ unreal! I wanted to change the location to poolside but someone is already using it. My date is June 5, 2015. How are you ladies requesting your guest to book their trip?

@@mimiblak I chose Courtney Chen. He was referred by a friend of mine who knows him personally so that set my mind at ease. With the $450 vendor fee he's reasonably priced so I'm comfortable with that for now. courtneychenphotography.com

Hi Brides!

Just browsing through all the posts, I'm getting so excited! I'm getting married March 25th, 2015.

Any other brides getting married at that time?

Congratulations to everyone :)

We are getting married March 17th 2015

Hey everyone!

I'm getting married on Feb 26, 2015 and was just wondering if anyone has figured out their centerpieces - I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do! Every quote I got back from the florist was crazy expensive.

I nearly choked when I saw the florists price. You'd think I was getting married in Toronto. At this point I'd rather walk holding my iPhone then give them $177 for a bouquet.

Hiiii ladies! loving all these April weddings, that's great! :)

would love to hear @@pamelas21 experience as well!

I have over 100 people booked for the wedding, which is insane!! I am so overwhelmed & excited about it...should be a crazy, fun, memorable weekend.

I'm thinking I may book with WPJ, Wedding Photographers of Jamaica for the pictures. they do a photo booth as well as a part of the biggest package, which sounds fun.

I may also bring my own DJ, because I want to hear Soca/Calypso music, and I'm not sure how good their DJ is.

Has anyone planned to do any excursions with your guests while your there? we may do an "all-white" night and head to Margarita Ville.

the countdown is on.... 4 months to go. :)

HI @@SoEze....

I just replied Re: Photographer (WPAJ), but I did centerpieces myself as well. Since my group is SO big, we have 10-11 tables, so we have tall beautiful floral arrangements, I can send a pic if you like! just send me your email address.

we'll ship them down a few days before the wedding b/c they're too big to carry in luggage. I'm scared at what the shipping costs may be, but i'm sure its no where near the outrageous Tai Flora prices.

No, we didn't have any trouble with booking since we went through a travel agent who uses a tour group. We just gave our guests the travel agent information, and she sends me updates when people reach out and book so I know who's coming. So far we have a little over 30 guests booked, and we're expecting to end up with around 60 guests total.

We're doing a private reception for the wedding since the dancing is really important to us too! No, you cannot play your own music in one of the semi-private restaurant locations, so we chose the poolside location. We considered the beach but didn't want to have to worry about our guests walking through sand in nice shoes, and although we will still likely rent a dance floor, we thought the cost of the additional lights that would likely be needed, etc. would probably be more at the beach venue than the poolside one.

@@mimiblak, 100 people? Wow, that's going to be a great party!

Just FYI, you may want to ask about using your own DJ...it was my understanding that the resort only allowed outside photographers/videographers and not any other vendors.

Also, not sure if you have friends in Jamaica and are just planning to ship your centerpieces to them, but if you were planning to ship them to the hotel, you may want to ask about that too. Almost every hotel I was looking into said they did not accept shipments because they did not want to be responsible for guests' items. I'm not sure about the Royalton's policy on this so I'd love to hear what they say if you ask them. Currently, we are planning to pack up some extra suitcases and give them to family and friends to bring down for us, but if they accept packages, I will definitely look into that option.

@@CherJK makes sense, we went directly through the hotel, so it was a little more difficult. thankfully all done! It must work differently through a travel agent as we had a room block that was released on November 1st and now we are told that the hotel is sold out for that week. So hopefully you have a room block through your travel agent for the guest who still need to book.

yea we are definitely going to do private then!

that is a good size wedding! we have about 80 total, it's gunna be so much fun!

@@mimiblak yes I'd love to see soewedding@@gmail.com

Where are you shipping them to? I asked Ellie if I could ship there and she said the resort didn't allow it.

I'm also doing my own bouquets. I'm no flower person and the prices were insane. I love the fabric and broche bouquets. They last forever and they're prettier to me.

Hello brides to be!!

I'm beyond sorry I haven't had a chance to get on here to tell you all about our dream day!!

For those of you I haven't talked to - I got married at the Royalton on November 18th!

I'm writing a full review and will post it (with pictures) soon!

Couple notes for all of you based on conversation above:

You have to use their DJ (he was awesome!) or pay the $450 vendor fee.

You can't ship stuff to the hotel - they don't allow it.

We did our private reception poolside - it was amazing!

Will post soon!!

Happy planning to all of you!!

Love, the NEW Mrs. Gedney ;) <3

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
