Hi ladies, for pricing it says a DJ is $220/hour and sound system for reception is $500. If you pay for the DJ do you have to pay for the sound system as well? Silly question but I feel like they really nickel and dime for everything

That is correct. We are getting married here in exactly 3 weeks! We went with the DJ option. You only pay the $220 hour that includes the sound system

Any questions email me. Margaretsmith@live.ca

Hi everyone - We're trying to figure out the best time to have the ceremony.  We were thinking 4:00pm, but the reception space won't be available until 7:00pm.  This leaves an awkward 1.5 hour gap.  Is 5:00pm too late?  We want to make sure there's enough light for the ceremony and pictures during cocktail hour.  (P.S. Our wedding is in December, so sunset tends to be earlier.)

Ours is at 2 because another bride had the 4 slot. We threw this wedding together in less then 6 months.

I figure 2 pm have cocktail hour later. Then perfect time for the early sunset photos then reception pool side at 7!

Hello everyone!!

I am so happy I found this forum I am getting married at the Royalton may 2016 can anyone offer any advice or share their experience? I plan on being my own decorations flowers ect because it seems that they charge for every little thing so I figure paying the set up fee is less than buying from the resort . Does anyone have experience with their hair and makeup stylist? I decided to go with an outside photography/videography company. There are so many options for everything I'm driving self crazy I'm sure you all understand happy planning ladies!!

What day are you getting married? We arrive on May 1, getting married May 4 and departure on May 15, 2015.

Who are you dealing with? Directly with the hotel? We are from Toronto and deal with the coordinators that are based in Toronto and they have been amazing at responding to emails.

Originally I was dealing with Laura I'm not sure where she is located she was great with her responses and information. She passed me to Ashley G. I believe she is with the actual resort. She takes about a week to respond which I think is a little too long. Our ceremony is 5/13 we will arrive 5/11 and leave 5/18. Have you decided on photography?

Looks like we will be seeing you there then. I never dealt with Laura but I have been dealing with Ashley so far and she has been pretty good as responding to my emails in a timely manner.

We are actually taking our own photographer with us. The Royalton just recently switched their photography again. Pictures are very important to us, so we decided to bring someone. We just had our engagement pictures done with her on the weekend and we are so happy with our choice. They look amazing.

So my travel agent just got in contact with contact from Royalton named Cindy. I have most current pricing for everything and have attached the pdf files.

We are pretty sure we are going ahead with this resort. Most resorts are charging roughly the same. Although centerpieces seem like a lot at $250 US, that's roughly what my sister spent getting married in Canada. Basically, you'll probably end up paying the same for a low key wedding at home but it'll be in Jamaica so its that much better!

We are thinking of booking October 11th and having our ceremony at the Beach Gazebo for 3 pm (no one better steal that day! lol).

Then private reception at 7 pm poolside.

We will likely be using an external photographer and videographer. I know there is a $450 outside vendor fee, but is that a one time fee or per outside vendor?

Also, we are looking at the private dinner menu. I'm assuming each guest gets to choose their entree? And we just pay depending on what entree they choose? I'm taking the advice of many on here and likely using my "free semi-private dinner" included the Free Package as a rehearsal dinner and then paying the additional $300 plus bar plus food per person for a private reception. I'll likely use their DJ.

My agent is pretty awesome and gets my answers fairly quickly so I can keep you guys updated!

Just a heads up. We were thinking our budget for this wedding would like be $15,000 Canadian for 50 guests. We are likely look at more of $30,000 after the stupid conversion and all the extra stuff. But hey, you only get married once! (That's what my mindset is anyway!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
