@@malika2014 @@talicea7812 thanks for the suggestion ladies, we decided to go with Button Up Photography, they've been featured on Wedding Wire, The Knot, Style Me Pretty, and The Wedding Chicks. Hideki, the photographer is super nice and gets back with me right away. Their website is www.buttonupmx.com if anyone else is interested. They don't do video that I know of but I am strongly considering using WedIt for that. The more I think about it the funnier I think a weeks worth of videos would be with our crazy friends behind the camera lol.

@@talicea7812 I think the dual party is a great idea! I was actually okay just having something in Mexico but I am compromising with my fiancé lol. I like your idea of a fiesta type theme, that will be very cost effective too if you can get away with having a party at your place. Ours just isn't big enough for that. We are having ours at a local event place that also does catering. I actually have a friend who works there and you can bring in your own alcohol and the room is included in the catering they just add a 20% service fee on to your total. For the number of people we will probably be inviting (probably around 175...you don't realize how big our fam is til you start making a list) this place is the most affordable option. I really wanted to do something outdoor but after the table and chair rental plus linens and a tent it would end up being around the same with catering added in. We are still keeping it pretty casual though and just making it a "celebration".

Wow! that's a lot of people! 175! I'm sure if I allowed it my hubs would invite that many.  We are very lucky when it comes to location.  The father in laws place is a good size. We had our wedding shower and my daughters bday there.  Good indoor space plus a large deck and land out back.  Trying to keep costs as low as possible!

Hahaha... it may even become a gender reveal party! lol.  I know TMI... but I may be pregnant.  I don't want to get ahead of myself bc my cycles have been a little off lately but as of now I'm a week late. Gonna give it til the weekend and take a test.  If that's the case we should be able to find out the gender b4 the party.

Again, im probably getting way ahead of myself... but I thought it would be awesome to change my daughters outfit midway through the party and put a shirt on her that says "big sister."  See who notices ;)

Then i would have my cake lady do the pink/blue inside the cake :)   LOL.  I love the surprises.  We'll see what happens.

Hi Ladies!  My fiance and I are getting married at the Azul Beach in April 2015.  We're set on having the ceremony on the beach but are still trying to decide between the following locations to hold the cocktail hour and reception.

  • Sky terrace (I'm not even sure if they allow cocktail hours here)
  • Beach in front of “Chil” restaurant (would sand get in the way of dancing and dinner?)
  • “Wave” lounge
  • “Blue” terrace or restaurant (from pictures I've seen, this is probably the most popular choice)

Thank you!!

I checked out the Sky terrace and thought it was totally overrated.  I don't know if you can do cocktail hour up there but during the day it is incredibly sunny.  It hurt my eyes.  I would also be concerned if it were a windy day.  It will probably be worse on the deck.

Where are you doing the reception? I had a cocktail hour at the wave lounge.  I did check it out before the wedding.  Nice space and is located to the right (when looking at the ocean) of the wedding area.

The beach in front of chil is a small area.  They have the beach bbq's in that area but depending on how many people you have that area is a little tight.  Plus the beach cabanas are right there.  So there could be people still laying in them when you are having cocktails and there is no way to stop people from walking through.

Blue terrace...I think is only for the reception?  I could be wrong about that...but you do have to have 50 guests to use that area.

@@talicea7812 holy crap! Congrats! That will end up being awesome for your gender reveal idea at your party!!

I saw a cute gender reveal idea on pinterest, it was the girl in a tank top and the guy put hand prints on her belly in pink or blue, it may have been a picture idea.

I know what pinterest thing you're talking about.  We are going to have to come up with some other way to do a gender reveal because we decided to do the party the last weekend in June. July was a bad month for everyone.  Each family member that we really want there had something going on.   June will be too early to determine what it is.  So for now we will just announce that im pregnant.  Since its a double party my daughter will be dressed in this Mexican looking dress that we have... when we switch gears to celebrate her bday I will change her into a bday outfit that will be a big sister shirt :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
