2015 Jamaica Brides - Post Here! Lets Help Each Other :-)

Recommended Posts

Hi Francine. I also am from NJ but not a 2015 bride. I am getting married this upcoming October in IBRHS because we have children attending the wedding. Just to help you with some of your questions: our wedding budget is $14,000 and that's including ceremony and reception at the resort. I have included extras for our wedding like a welcome cocktail gathering the Wednesday before the wedding and we also have decorations of our own and we splurged on the favors (we are doing t-shirts).

This forum has helped a lot with location reviews and awesome ideas.

Thank you for your response!! @@Tatimrivera That sounds great. Your wedding day is going to be awesome.  My fiance and I decided to go with a villa in Ocho RIos with the ocean in the backdrop. It is beautiful. So far our budget is close to $9000 and includes almost everything (DJ, cocktail hour, food, wedding planner, decor, alcohol, photography/videography, etc) We have to decide on wedding favors and some other minor stuff. I know you must be excited to get married next month!! Wish you all the best and maybe you could share some pics when you get back. Congrats!!

Hello all, my name is Candice and I will be getting married on June 22, 2015 at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in MoBay. We chose this resort becuase it is economical for out guest and we have stayed here several times. Our kids absolutely love it. We are having a hard time chosing what to bring ourselves and what to have done there as the prices are so expensive. My mother can make alot of the decorations but its the hassle of bringing it. Can you all recommend any good and reasonable wedding planners. We have had some absolutely ridiculous quotes. I am looking for room lighting, table decorations, and backdrop (drapery). Francine for my OOT bags I am doing what i call survival kits with practical things. I am doing 2, one for the way there and one while there are there. The first has luggage tags that i had made, games for the plane, ear buds, gum, tylenol, etc. The 2nd has suncreen, pepto, room key holder, playing cards, little stuff like that. I think i may do sand in a bottle for them to take home as a momento. I like the jerk sauce idea. It was really nice meeting everyone.

We were married in Jamaica this past April. We stayed at the Iberostar in Montego Bay. Great Place! They only have 1 wedding per day which makes it that much more special. We hired Elite Media Concepts for videography and DJ services and they were awesome! The wedding coordinators at the resort are awesome! You can go onto the Elite Media Concepts site and see our Highlights video Brigitte and Marcel More Than Words Can Say.

Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me..I have been in contact with Diana Campbell from digital memories photography and just wondered if any if you have chosen them or know anyone who has? I've spoken to my travel agent about sending a deposit but they advised me to check it out first and make sure they are a reputable company. Any advice is very much appreciated. Thankyou

Finally have our wedding booked at Firefly for March 14, 2015!!! It has taken 5 and a half months to get everything in order and booked!!! So relieved that this part is finally done but since we took so long to set the location, I only have 19 weeks to work out all of the other little details!!! Yikes!!!

Hello everyone.

I am Pam and I'm actually inquiring for my niece.  She's getting married June 12, 2015; a destination wedding at The Rui in Ocho Rios Jamaica.

We need someone from BDW to just help us with coordination; blocking rooms etc.

Please chime in.  Time's going so fast and my niece is stressed out big time.

Thanks so much!!!

Contact wright travel- they own this site. They work with Americans on several different packages and can help with room blocks. Tell your niece to join here with fellow brides for the planning fun.. This forum is incredibly helpful in that regard.

Your niece's wedding is the day after mine (in Montego Bay)! Definitely work with a travel agent on the room reservations, but other brides on this site can answer other questions! There are a ton of good ideas on the forums, even in threads for other resorts and locations.

I would also def suggest going with a travel agent. I am a travel agent and I wish I would have gone with an outside agent instead of doing it on my own. If you go to the RIU website they have all of their wedding packages. Check out this link

http://www.riu.com/en/weddings/ \

and you can actually put in the wedding date to make sure it is available. They have 4 packages you can choose from and you can customize from there. I actually considered the Riu but decided to go with the location my children wanted. Once you put in your email address on the website they will contact you and walk you through the process. If you need anymore help please let me know.

We were totally going to go with Iberostar but at the last minute changed to Royalton White Sands, we just fell in love with how modern it looked! Our travel agent specializes in destination weddings and especially Indian destination weddings, and she said Iberostar is great for Indian weddings, but Royalton has this perfect little gazebo we thought would be perfect, and wedding coordinator there has done Indian weddings before too. Our TA also suggested Lady Hamilton/Palladium for an Indian wedding.

Royalton is exquisitely beautiful! the staff is courteous and the food is amazing! (esp. the sushi bar and the steakhouse) I would definately reccmmend having your wedding there, contact Epic Weddings Jamaica for Sikh/Hindu wedding cinematography, you can email them at epicweddingsja@@gmail.com, they are awesome!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
