2015 Jamaica Brides - Post Here! Lets Help Each Other :-)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My name is Francine and I am getting married in my home island, Jamaica in June 2015.  I live in NJ. I am so excited, but my fiance and I don't even know where to start.  We are going to Jamaica in March 2014 for vacation to try to visit a couple resorts and reserve a date for the wedding.

I read a lot of these posts and viewed a lot of beautiful pictures. We want a small wedding of 50 - 60 ppl. I like Sunset Beach resort because it seems to be affordable, but I also like Rosehall Beach Resort because their grounds are beautiful and spacious.  It seems to be more private.

Does anyone mind sharing how much they spent for their wedding? What were your big money items? Is it best to go with the resort for everything for the ceremony and reception? Or is it cheaper to get vendors outside the resort for things like decorations, flowers, DJ, photographer? Recommendations? I appreciate any feedback.

When I go and come back I'll be sure to update on the forum.

Thanks  :)

hey Francine, a great way to avoid much of the stress would be to hire a wedding planner, like acw said, most know what they're doing lol... i got married in Jamaica recently and opted to do all the shopping around myself... in my opinion, YES!, you would definitely avoid much of the cost associated with resort packages by booking the vendors yourself. My wedding photographer was Courtney Chen, he was recommended to be by a friend and i'm glad i went with him, his work speaks for itself, he has a face book page and you could Google him. If you're also shopping around for a Makeup Artist i could recommend Charlie Montag Makeup Artistry, i had a few trials with a few other MUA's before coming across her website. she was excellent, price point was fabulous and very professional. i had 9 bridesmaids, along with my mother and my mother in law and she was nothing short of amazing... check her out if you're still shopping around for vendors  :) https://www.facebook.com/CharlieMUA .........My decorations were done by Nishy Weddings, i think they have a website so you could also try googling them as well... overall, my budget was $5,000 (USD) and it came well under that..

Samantha, please do tell how you kept your budget so well. I have been contacting so many outside vendors and I just haven't found any with decent prices but I will look up the ones you named.

Hi Everyone and welcome,

We are also planning our wedding in Ocho Rios in 2015 but in December. We have 80 to 100 guests and the location will be the gorgeous Laughing Waters and the ceremony is possibly Prospect Chapel.  I also have no idea what favours to give my guests. I want either something they can use or something they can truly treasure, something handmade like a special Jam.......hellllpp

Hi there,

I was recently told about Laughing Waters and the pictures look amazing!! That's awesome that you're hosting your wedding there.

There is rarely any info online about renting out the venue. Did you hire a wedding planner to help you coordinate your reception at Laughing Waters? I'd like to know how I can also arrange my wedding at Laughing Waters.

Any info will help.

Thanks so much!

-A

My wedding is April 4th at RIU Montego Bay so a month away! Just really starting to get things in order... Can anyone recommend a hair stylist or makeup artist? What are you all doing for decorations? My colors are hot pink/magenta, light pink/blush, silver, grey and ivory. Suggestions for music? I think I may bring an iPod or CDs with a bunch of songs since we are renting out the disco club. Thanks for the advice in advance!

Hi Everyone!

I am so excited that I found this forum!!! I am getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in November 2015! I'm just getting started with the planning, so any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

Leanne

Hi Leanne! I am getting married at Grand Bahia in August 2015!! Have you seen the forum "Any grand Bahia brides out there?" Its about 550 pages but it contains so much helpful information. There are posts a few years back but there are some new brides on there now bringing back the posts.

As for favours my FI and I are making everyone t-shirts and travel mugs! We have a group of about 50 so far so now everyone can recognize each other and not have to drink out of the little resort cups! hehe

Can't wait to hear more about everyone's 2015 weddings :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
