2015 Jamaica Brides - Post Here! Lets Help Each Other :-)

Recommended Posts

Vendor fees can be killer; it's strange that Jan's gets charged a vendor fee for your resort? I wasn't charged a vendors fee at all when I used Jan's through the Riu.

And June is Jamaica's summer, I don't get how it's the busy season when the busy season is from January to end of March LOL! (who told you June is the busy season?) especially since that's when the weather starts to heat up at home!!

Just prepare for intense heat when you come in June! End of May into June is when the heat ramps up for their summer. Right now it's daily 30+ degrees it'll be way more humid in June with a way higher chance of rain. I'll cross my fingers that the rain stays away for your wedding!! @@cankem80

My husband and I were talking to one of the life guards and he was saying that in June through to August it can rain for days straight into weeks even!! The water levels this year are also really low, to the point that the firefighters can't put out fires unless absolutely needed!! They are in a drought at the moment and citizens actually have to use their water that they have in reserve! It rained for maybe a minute today which is nowhere near enough for their crops and such. Yes the weather has been fantastic and hot but I really hope they get the rain they need soon or they will have to fly water in!

Interestingly though I did a lot of research on this and July seems to be the exception, it has one of the lowest rainfall percentages of the year for Jamaica. Has anyone been in July and can confirm this.

Sorry JamaicaNicole, I don't have a lot of info on July, I've only visited once during this month. But when I visited it rained only once the entire week. I have asked a few friends there and they say its usually noon showers that come quickly and leave just as quick. Hope this helps some.

To the lovely Francine who started this post, we have 3 more weeks before we head off to Jamaica for our big day. I am excited but also a bundle of nerves because there are so many small details I have to remember. Don't forget the safety pins, remember to pack everything I need ( there are no Wal-marts down the street). I keep thinking I am going to forget something. And I have no idea why I decided to do a surprise dance in the last few weeks. My checklist keeps growing instead of getting smaller, whew. Any last minute advice or to do's would be great...

I hope these post keep coming for Jamaica brides. It was so helpful for me. So to anyone who is thinking of doing a June wedding in Montego Bay, let me say that the weather was beautiful. There was no rain at all, only a few days was it extremely  hot. Most days it was nice and breezy. I had my wedding on the beach at the Holiday Inn  Sunspree (now the Holiday Inn resort). The staff couldn't have been better. Some tips to remember, everything will not go exactly as planned, hire your own D.J. or ask them for a sample from the DJ or a playlist he is going to play, remember to make arrangements to have your dresses steamed, and don't get to upset with your guests-they are on vacation.

I had to cancel my rehearsal dinner because most of my wedding party was too drunk to go to a restaurant. Instead we just practiced for a short while and that was that. The wedding was beautiful and so was the reception, but our dj was horrible. He play anything from the 90's which was ok for the 1st hour but after that we gave him a playlist and it took him forever to download songs due to poor internet reception. Also, my sister in law was my MUA but she had a dress malfunction so I ended up doing my own makeup. I wish I would have just hired a MUA. I decided that I wouldn't let even one thing bother me and that's exactly what I did. I had the time of my life and I wish I could do it all over again. Remember to enjoy your self, get a massage right before to relax and don't expect absolute perfection, no mater what happens it will be perfect for you. I anyone needs links to where I bought things, any tips on Jamaica or what not, just let me know.

Hi Everyone and welcome,

We are also planning our wedding in Ocho Rios in 2015 but in December. We have 80 to 100 guests and the location will be the gorgeous Laughing Waters and the ceremony is possibly Prospect Chapel. I also have no idea what favours to give my guests. I want either something they can use or something they can truly treasure, something handmade like a special Jam.......hellllpp

@@HappilyEverAfter Congratulations! My fiancé and I got engaged exactly one week ago. As my family is originally from Jamaica I've always wanted to get married there. I've never been to Laughing Waters, but after seeing pictures online it looks like my ideal place to wed! Can you tell me how to go about booking? Edited by Smelimeli

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
