Recommended Posts

How soon did house ladies start planning your wedding in the DR? I am recently engaged and we are planning our wedding in the DR? We are having an engagement party in June to celebrate and let all of our close friend and family know our wedding plans. I Want to create party favor bags with information and save the date magnets and personalized Hershey kisses. we want all of our. friends and family to go so we would like to give them time to pay for their trip and adjust schedules.

what did you ladies do for your guest?

i gave my guests 13 months notice of our wedding in Cuba.  I feel the more notice you give, the more likely you will have a better turn out as it allows people to save. Our final number was 79 people :-)  I sent a Save the Date magnet and then created some OOT bags which I gave to our guests at our Jack N Jill just before we departed.  If you look at my posts, you can see the items i put in my guest bags :-)  Congratulations and happy planning...my week was magical and I wish we could do it all again :-)

Congratulations!! Sounds like you've got things under control! I think a year's notice is a great time frame. I kind of wish we had given more time. We got engaged February of last year, and it took us a few months to figure things out, where we wanted the wedding, Calgary, Nova Scotia or destination, and then my Dad had to talk to his doctors and get clearance to travel b/c he has heart problems, but once he got the A-OK we decided destination! We announced in May, for a January wedding. So it was a bit of a whirlwind, but it worked out and we've got 50 people attending!!

I started planning 14 months out.  It took me 2 months (tho this was over Nov and Dec holidays) to confirm the room block and the wedding date / package.  Once we were like 75% done, I sent my STD's.  I finally got confirmation back from the hotel yesterday on our wedding date and time, so with the help of my travel agent, I emailed my guests to start booking their rooms.  So essentially, they have a year's advance notice, but need to have their final payments in 90 days in advance.

I am April 2015 bride and I am waiting on confirmation from the hotel of my date and time. It is taking a long time.... I will hopefully send the STD's out by March giving about 13 months notice.

Congratulations on your engagement @@Shanna2015 !

I'm not getting married until July 2015 but I'm busy during the school year (teacher) so I'm starting really early to be organized.

I'm giving people who I really want to be there a year's notice by sending STDs July this year.

The people I'm inviting because my MIL or my parents feel they deserve an invite, but I don't really want there, won't receive their invites until  March 2015 when I send out my wedding invitations.

I have selected an approximate date, and resort but am not booking my resort until June.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
