Hi everyone! I need some advice please! I'm getting married at Barcelo Maya Palace this July. I was originally estimating only about 50 guests to come and I was planning to do the ceremony and reception on Coral Beach. Now it looks like my guest list has doubled and Coral Beach cannot accommodate this size. Can anyone send me pictures or let me know what beach is the best? I heard Playa Azul is very nice, but its on the other end of the resort. But, I heard the back up is a banquet. Which I do not want. Also, there's not much lighting, so I would have to pay extra for lights. I was thinking about Palmeras Beach at the Tropical because its right next door to the Palace. Has anyone ever been there or have had their ceremony and reception? My ceremony will be at 5pm. I just don't want a bunch of random people in my photos during the ceremony and reception.

Also, any suggestions on where to get centerpieces down there? Something affordable.

Thanks!

Stacie

we've been there - 3 times. this will be our 4th. we're having our ceremony at playa azul. it's farthest from the palace yes, but it's actually past all of the resorts. so you're less likely to have people strolling past (though some still do.. I can't understand why people don't realize they shouldn't stand and gawk at the ceremony.. in their far too tight/small speedos.../end rant). we'll then move closer to the palace for the reception - likely on the beach in front of cocos bar.

hope that helps.. let me know if you have anymore questions :)

Thank you. How many people are you having at your wedding? When are you planning to get married? Congratulations by the way! I was wondering, how long does it take to walk from the Palace to Playa Azul or to take the shuttle? One of my dilemmas is that I won't be having a cocktail hour (I really want to, but it seems very expensive especially when they add the beach set up per person). So I was hoping to have it at Coral Beach and then let my guests go to Carey Bar. How far is the walk from Palmeras to Carey Bar? What's the name of the beach that is in front of Cocos Bar? Thanks again!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
