Thank you so much! It is very exciting to have won something so big and so important our life. Not going into debt over a wedding is an amazing feeling this is why we both agreed on the destination wedding (plus less drama)

I will for sure stick around to see how your wedding turns out and to fill you all in on my big day as well!

Sad about not having a wedding in Cuba but being able to still go with friends and family is a great feeling!

  • 2 weeks later...

So we haven't picked a date yet, still looking plus the hall that we won is being horrible to deal with! So the Toronto Bridal Show is stepping in to deal with them

We are looking for a fall wedding so I just booked my first appointment to go look and try on dress for March 2nd. I am going to go with my mom on the 1st so look solo with her so we can narrow it down since the people we are going with all are push and love their own opinion!

We have picked a shabby chic wedding, so pastels, lace, sparkle/glitter, wood. Men in grey suits and thats all I have for now :-)

Sounds lovely! I am sorry to hear that they are being horrible to deal with! Hopefully they will smarten up! Have fun looking for dresses! I was so tired of it at the time but now wish I were still able to go and try on more dresses!

I think by the end of the appointment between my grandmother and my future mother-in-law I will never want to go dress shopping again! this is why I have planned to go solo with my mom :)

I went alone the first few times to get an idea of what I liked and then invited my mom and MIL along. I really had only planned to bring my mom but my MIL seemed pretty excited at the idea of being able to come so I invited her. Luckily my mom isn't too opinionated nor is my MIL. They both just saw how excited I was when I "found" the dress. I don't think it was either of their favourites, but it was by far hands down my favourite and they could see that. Don't get me wrong they love my dress but I think they just each had other ones they preferred. But I knew this was the one when I put it on. My biggest piece of advice is don't let someone else's opinion sway you and don't settle for a dress. I knew the minute I put my dress on that it was going to be the one, I didn't even have it done up, I just loved the shape and fun-ness of it and how well it fit. I was so excited in it and I didn't feel that way in any other dress and I did not want to take it off at all. That's how I knew... all the others were fine and pretty but they didn't excite me. It also took me a lot longer then I thought to find my dress... probably about 5 or 6 different stores and probably 30 dresses or so over a few weekends. I did think it over and I had tried on dresses afterwards to just make sure. But I woke up dreaming about myself walking down the aisle in that dress and so I just knew!

Thanks for the advice! I will have to keep that in mind. My MIL really wanted to come and if I said no I would feel bad or start a fight somewhere else and to be honest it really doesn't bother me who comes but I do know that I am my mothers only child and she is over the moon to share this with me so a part of me feel bad that but  my mom is very much like me and likes to keep the peace so she understood.

I found a dress I LOVE and its also on sale I just found out 50% off! So I am hoping I love it on as much as I love it in the picture. I have already gotten 'I pictured you in something else' or 'I am not a fan of that style' its annoying but I just have to keep saying its my day and my dress....unless I look horrible it in!

Ohhh can I see a picture? Ohh yeah everyone is going to say that! My mom pictured me in a nice flowy dress but they just didn't look good on me and it wasn't what I wanted. Although I agree I do think they look nice for beach weddings and liked the appeal of the flowy light nature but it just wasn't me!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
