Gran Porto Real Vs Gran Caribe Real?

Recommended Posts

Hi there! TA Wendy here! Actually, both the Gran Porto and Gran Caribe are wonderful properties, but very different in their "feel". As Tammy mentioned, Gran Porto is in PDC and in general feels more laid back. They are located steps away from all the fun of 5th Avenue, on a great beach, and they are a good option for family friendly, good value property! Also, if you have guests who would prefer the more upscale Royal, they are sister properties and can be combined on the same group contract.

The Gran Caribe is up in Cancun, in the midst of the Hotel Zone. On the beautiful Cancun beach, you have a great location there. They also have a giant pirate ship water play area, so much more extensive activities for children at this resort. If you are considering a Catholic chapel, they have a beautiful one, all of glass that makes it feel like you are soaring out over the blue water. So pretty.

Pricing on the two Grans would be very similar, so the reasons to select one over the other should be based more on location, and the amenities you are looking for .

We here at Wright Travel work with The Royal and The Grans very often, know the sales team and we would be most happy to assist you with any questions you might have!

Best wishes!

TA Wendy

Thanks for the replies ladies! Wendy, any thoughts on which would be better for a wedding or are they pretty comparable on what they offer being they are the same resort chain? So it seems like you think the caribe has a more picturesque beach? Not interested in a catholic wedding so that doesn't apply, I'd ljke beach or gazebo I suppose. And I'd love a private reception either on the beach or pool side. I've heard that the gran porto's pool is much nicer. Hmmm

i would suggest the cancun gran caribe since it would be closer to get for you and your guest- if you want a bit more of an upscale feel then the Royal (which its now hyatt zilara) is right next to gran caribe real.

Hi. I wondered if Gran Port has a section for adults in their accommodations? I know it's a family resort, but I wondered if it's still possible for adults without kids to be a little private in terms of rooms? we've had too many hotel experiences where there are out of control kids that parents don't properly look after!

Hi Acw271011, If you are considering the Gran Porto because it is family friendly , but still would like an adults only get away, my best suggestion would be to have the best of both worlds and book the adults only folks next door at the sister Royal Playa Del Carmen. Guests at The Royal have come and go privileges over at The Gran Porto, and can use all their facilities.

We can actually combine the two properties on one group contract for you as well.

Best regards,

TA Wendy

Thanks Wendy. The group would be only adults. My concern was when I was comparing costs. I checked a travel website just for fun and it doesn't look to be a huge difference - maybe about $200. Does that seem right? I really like the idea of an adults only resort and I love the packages The Royal is offering. If I make it through some health issues I want to do a vows renewal in October 2015 so we're a long way out, and a whole lot to get through before then!

@TA Wendy, I've been in love with the Royal PDC since I laid eyes on it but it was out if the price range for a lot of the guests I would be inviting. So you're saying guests from RPDC can come over to Gran Porto but not vice versa? That's one thing I was worried about, I knew I had read they can come over and count as a "guest" for your package but I wasn't sure about other days. I would hate to have people come all that way and only see them one day. Also, I'm wondering if I should change the date range I was looking at, I originally wanted between Jan-March of 2015 but I am wondering if doing it in early December would be a cheaper option....just worried about weather at that time.

Thanks!

Hi Kara, Yes that is the case. If you are staying at The Royal Playa Del Carmen you may go over to The Gran Porto and eat there, and use the beach or pool facilities as you wish. Guests who are in the very top room category of the Gran Porto also enjoy privileges at The Royal, but only those that have booked the very top room. With regards to date range, December is actually a very nice time to travel to the area.. after the rainy season has ended and if you go in the sweet spot after Thanksgiving and before the Christmas Holiday rush you can often get good pricing and less crowds as well.

January to March would be lovely but typically prices would be higher then they might be in December (early in the month).

I hope that helps!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
