February 2015 Cancun Bride!

Recommended Posts

Sounds like we have similar taste! I really wanted the Grand as I don't really like the venue locations for ceremony/reception at the Lindo/Maya, but when they told me 80% of the wedding guests had to stay at the Grand as well, I knew it wouldn't be possible. My family wouldn't have a problem but our friends and and my fiance's family would not want to spend that much. Did they gave you a good rate? We were looking at Jan/Feb 2015 and on apple, funjet, etc it's like 2800/person. I saw yours is in July, did they really take a good amount off the package deals you find online? I haven't gotten so far as getting actual quotes yet but I read in another forum not to look at the package deals because they will (or your travel agent) will quote less. What was your experience?

The hotel itself preferred that we go directly thru a travel agent to get pricing and book it through them. They say it's cheaper that way. I feel like we got a decent rate. For those who've decided to stay 7 nights, it's a lot of money (More than I've ever spent per person) but for 3, 4 and 5 night stays they are quite reasonable. I've compared the prices to Expedia every so often just to drive myself nuts and I haven't seen it less than what we got! Thank goodness.

For a 3 night stay in the Junior Suite, for hotel only it was about $785 per person. We didn't think that was too much and flights haven't been too expensive...until recently (Hope those go down) so we felt okay with the pricing we received. Our Travel Agent had quotes from Funjet/Apple etc.. and Apple did the best job. I like the idea of letting a TA handle everyone's reservation in case something goes wrong. With the package, roundtip airport transfers are included in the price too which helps. If you've narrowed it down to 2 hotels, I would have the TA get quotes on both. That's how we decided between Iberostar and Grand Velas. Good luck deciding. If you have any other questions, let me know! I'm happy to help

So I'm planning my site visits and made a bunch of progress in figuring out where I'm actually staying for 4 days/3 nights Feb 23-26. Grand Velas quoted $360/person/night (ummm yikes), Dreams Riviera Cancun $110/person/night, and Moon Palace is $246/person/night but Moon Palace will credit this stay to your wedding account if you book the wedding with them (Preview Paradise promo). I decided, along with my TA, that Dreams' is the place I should stay. I'm confirmed for 2 people (me and my mom) but my dad and MoH (sister) want to come so I'm calling tomorrow to see if we can add them on at that rate. I'll be spending the next month planning out our visits with the help of my TA. Excited to get down there but hoping it goes smoothly and my mom and sister are able to be added to our reservation! My fiancé can't take the time off :-/

Hi ladies, I am planning to get married in Mexico 2015, i have 3 friends that are getting married at the end of 2014. We went to Mexico and looked at tons of resorts and met with wedding planers. I am in the process of creating a spreadsheet with pictures and info from all the resorts. My email is lanaaksman1@@gmail.com feel free to email me and I will forward you my spreadsheet when I am done with it. I am in between a few hotels but leaning toward paradisus la perla.

Hello fellow brides! I am still waiting to hear back from a travel agent on the details, but my wedding will probably be April 2015. I am trying to decide between a few places, so far Moon Palace and Dreams Riviera Cancun are my top two. At Moon Palace, it looks like you get a TON more perks, $1500 resort credit, free events if you book a certain amount of rooms, etc. But Dreams Riviera Cancun looks like it will be a lot more affordable for the guests.

If anyone could share any info with me that would be extremly helpful! Thanks in advance :)

@@Ems85 I'm planning to do my wedding at Moon Palace in April 2015. How did you find the wedding coordinators, and the communication with them? Did you use the photographers on the resort?

Hey

the WC's were great and answered all my questions. I used the resort photographer as this was easier for us.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
