February 2015 Cancun Bride!

Recommended Posts

@@Carlicardenas - it's Karisma. We are looking at Generations Riviera Maya/El Dorado Royale and Azul Sensatori.  From the looks of things, I'll be a January bride because there is a $160 price difference for guests staying 3 nights. :(

@@lalalana - many thanks! I work in NYC and live a ferry ride away.

Hi Brides!

I'm also planning on visiting Cancun/Playa del Carmen area end of March. I've decided to visit these sites: Sandos Cancun, Riu Palace Riviera Maya, The Royal Playa del Carmen, The Royal Cancun. I'm not sure if I want to visit Riu Palace Riviera Maya because of the fact that they do not have a reception area outdoors that can accommodate more than 50 people.

I am also wanting information about Dreams Riviera Cancun. I wanted a resort close to a Catholic church for my ceremony. Does anyone know if there's a church nearby Dreams?

@@Ems85 I'm planning to do my wedding at Moon Palace in April 2015. How did you find the wedding coordinators, and the communication with them? Did you use the photographers on the resort?

Hi lovelies! Just returned from my site visits! Was down for 5 days with our "home base" at Dreams Riviera Cancun. We also visited Barcelo Maya Palace and Riu Palace Riviera Maya. Any Qs let me know and I will do my best to answer or I can give my opinions about the resorts.

The packages at Moon do offer more, I think, but we chose Dreams Riviera Cancun because Moon was WAY too big for us and my family loves the beach and Moon's beach was unswimmable. For wedding ceremony you can do the beach (North or South beach, pretty private compared to other beach locations at other resorts) or the Gazebo which is next to the pool, but they push the pool chairs away from the ceremony site and everyone was very respecful from the two weddings we saw there. I saw pics from a wedding there where they put up dividers between the pool and gazebo (not sure if they still offer this as this was in 2009). In the brochure, they said you could also have the ceremony on the lobby stairs which looked beautiful but during the tour they didn't mention it, not sure if it's still available.

We're going with the Ultimate package. It covers 20 people and everyone else is extra depending on which menu you choose. Ultimate package includes the gold menu, you can upgrade to platinum if you wish. Dinner can be buffet or plated. Cocktail hour and reception can be anywhere you want. Pool deck (next to sand) or pool terrace (next to pool), around one of the jacuzzis, by the spa, restaurants (extra fee depending on which restaurant), and beach. Decor is 100% customizable. You can give them pics and they will create it for you within your budget or quote you if you want to upgrade.

They have 2 weddings a day max. Tables can be anything you want (square, circle, rectangle, set up whichever you want) as well as colors. There are so many options it's crazy.

If you (or anyone!) wants the latest price list, send me your email and I'll forward it! I do have pics but not sure how to upload them...do I have to post them to like a blog first??

Did they mention the change of ownership to the Hyatt and is this a concern for Dreams?

No they didn't. From this forum it seems that only Dreams Cancun is changing and none of the people I talked to at the resort gave any indication that this location was at risk. I will make sure to ask though next time I talk to them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
