What Resort Are You Getting Married At...

Recommended Posts

What resort are you getting married at and what was the thing that "sealed the deal" for you selecting this resort.

I THINK I want to get married at Grand Princess Riviera Maya BUT I keep thinking "Maybe there is another resort I would love even more that I haven't come across just yet".

Im booking shy until I know for sure I have scoped out the perfect place for my perfect budget.

This may help me check out your resorts and decide that maybe I'd like to switch it up or perhaps it may seal my deal that the Princess is right for my wedding....

Also, does your resort include a cocktail hour after the ceremony or a private area to do "dances", or do you have to pay extra at your location. (Trying to keep things modest in price ;)

and go....

Totally know how you fee about being booking shy! However,I'm really learning towards Couples Swept Away in Negril Jamaica. I want that one mainly because:

1) It offers the most in an all inclusive adults only resort as far as I can tell, including wedding package and activities for the best price. If you book on their site, you can put everything on "layaway" with a $100 deposit Huge help with the budget!

2) While I won't have any guests, and my day will totally be about me, they still offer the option to have guests if you'd like, they even allow children but it's just for the ceremony.

What I don't like is that the photography options are pretty pathetic, and since I didn't have a wedding 25 yrs ago a substantial portion of my budget is going towards photography... they charge you $500 to bring your own photographer and if you hire outside makeup artists and or hairstylist you have to buy day passes for them -unless they are coupled guests for a minimum number of nights..

So long story short... I'm still crunching numbers. While I am thrilled by all the activity options available at the Couples Resorts and the inclusions, if I can find a resort that doesn't charge as much for an outside photographer,(yes, I've found a photographer) I just may compromise on some of the activities... I've also found that many photographers offer discounts if you have a small or non-existent(like me) wedding party/guest list.

And oh yeah,if I'm remembering correctly Couples does include a cocktail/ reception hour in some of their packages. Again, since its just me and the hubby,I didn't pay a lot of attention to that inclusion. Sorry.

We went with Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana.  Our travel agent sent me links for a few different places she recommended for Punta Cana and Mexico I checked out the sites then hit up Trip advisor for reviews Majestic had awesome reviews so the reviews kind of sealed the deal for me.  Most resorts do have cocktail/reception areas and services but they charge you for it since its a private function.  If I could do anything differently I would have did more pricing with other travel agents.  We went for flight centre and I'm not a fan at all!

@@HEZZA We picked Melia Las Dunas, Cayo Santa Maria Cuba. Not only is Cuba cheaper but we got an amazing deal plus we know over 7 couples who have gone to this resort and loved it! and have gone again plus our travel agent goes there a ton. They also offer great wedding packages and if you want to add on they aren't over expensive. They actually have a few areas that you have for your cocktail/dinner/dancing that is private, they also have areas were you share with the general public  and they have places you can rent out as well and I think the price was 11CUC per person

The most important factor to us were a few things 5 star resort, price and wedding packages. We had looked at a few resorts and for the price of a wedding package we could have just done it downtown Toronto.

We chose Secrets Maroma Beach. It was a tough decision. What swayed me was how beautiful the actual beach was. I wanted the beach to be gorgeous for the ceremony. There are so many amazing choices.

Couples swept away was perfect for our wedding. There are two options on the beach or in the gardens. Digital memories collection were great as a photographer. We looked at the resorts own and they were amateur.

I should be able to upload some pictures soon.

The wedding coordinator was great as well.

Grand Palladium White Sand in the Riviera Maya. The location is exactly what we wanted, they allow outside photographers, and the resort has a lot of variety in regards to entertainment and food (which is what we wanted for our guests).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
