Kailey2015

Hello!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My name is Kailey and I live in Ontario, Canada. I am planning a wedding in Punta Cana for May 2015. My fiancé and I have been together for four and a half years and are ready to start a new chapter in our lives! We both have large families and to stay budget-friendly and keep our wedding intimate and personal (neither of us are the centre of attention type) we thought a destination wedding would suit us perfectly - plus its a vacation at the same time!

I look forward to meeting some new people and reading reviews on anything and everything regarding a destination wedding!

Congratulations and welcome! You've definitely come to the right place! Have you chosen a resort yet?

I am thinking either the Majestic Colonial or Majestic Elegance! We are going to visit it this February to make sure it is the place for us!

Awesome! I haven't been to either of those resorts but they were at the top of my DR list. Ultimately we choose Cuba though.

If you're looking for a great Travel Agent in Canada ,the TA I used is amazing! She specializes in Destination Weddings and although shes in NS she books for people all over Canada. I don't know if you have one already or not or even thought about it, but I would highly recommend her. Shes been awesome, always answers my emails and shes good at getting in contact with the resort wedding coordinators. I am fairly certain she's even been to the Majestic resort. Anyhow let me know if you want her name and contact information!

Same here! Cuba is just so much cheaper... although I find from Ontario it depends, but from Halifax, its significantly cheaper to Cuba then DR or Mexico. PLus Cuba has amazing beaches and friendly people!

We got $990 for departing January 13th 2015..can't complain about that! Our photographers are from Halifax still waiting on their quote but I was told it can be any where from $100-300 cheaper, they pay their own way so I am glad these will be cheaper. I would have to agree about the beaches and people!

Wow that's a fantastic deal! We're paying $1178 tax incl. to Iberostar Laguna Azul which is the cheapest my TA has ever seen it she said. We haven't seen it even close to that low since we got our quote. Who are your photographers? I wish I had of known there were photographers in Halifax who pay their own way!

I thought that price was great too! $990 tax include out of Toronto people really can't complain about that!

I am super picky about pictures because that's something that last forever and i love photography so everyone I was picking were $8,000+ and Greg said I was drunk to pay that plus there flight so I looked around and found this husband and wife team(they are currently living in Toronto till February) and they are about $1,100 and they pay their own way there. Plus as a gift for my parents we are giving them an hour photo shoot for $150.

Wow! I wish I had of known that! Their photos are amazing! We hired a private Cuban photographer (he's photos are great too) and we're paying $1100 as well! Had I known of them I would have hired them forsure! That's so cheap! I looked into one here who is amazing but it was going to be about $3000 and that was too much for me.

    • Good afternoon, I wanted to inquire if anyone has or knows someone who got married at this resort. How was it? How are the coordinators? Packages that were chosen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks.
    • Hi all! I know this is an old thread... but just in case there are other destination wedding brides out there with the same question, I thought I would answer! My guy and I live in Texas and just got our marriage license (yay!). We are getting married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Dallas County clerk informed us that we can get our marriage license in Texas, bring it and a Texas-registered officiant to Mexico, have the ceremony in Mexico, then bring the marriage license back to Texas to file and it will be LEGAL in the US.  In  other words, we can legally get married in Mexico using our Texas marriage license and officiant (who is a family friend), then file the paperwork when we get home. Where it says 'county in which ceremony was performed' on the license, we just put in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and bam! Married :) I do not know if this is true for other states, but it is CONFIRMED for Texas! I suggest asking the clerk when you register for your marriage license. I am overjoyed that we can have a US-legal marriage in Mexico so our wedding date on our license will be the actual day! NO blood tests, or getting married before or after the trip required!
    • Every Bride spends a lot of time researching and worrying about her perfect wedding dress. While many Indian brides choose the traditional red colour for their bridal gown, a few of them find some different colours to wear on their special day. Here is a description of how to choose an Indian wedding dress that suits your skin tone. 1) Fair complexion: You can choose any shade of blue or bright shades of pink and red. In the shades of blue- select scuba blue or royal blue. Among other colours this season, you can pick up your dress in tangerine.   2) Wheatish complexion Just select those colours which bring out the warmth in your complexion. Some of the best options for you are tangy orange, saffron yellow, vibrant shades of red, mint green and hot pink.   3) Dusky complexion: If you have an olive skin tone, then you can pull off any rich and dark colour quite well. So, the colours like classic blue, marsala, burnt orange and brick red are just perfect for you. Also the metallic silver, gold and bronze will even flatter your face pretty well
    • I will be using the hPage Website Builder to create a free website for our wedding. I am planning to post wedding updates, wedding photos, wedding reminders, and wedding articles regarding our upcoming marriage there. For RSVP, I am using Facebook events since almost all we invited have facebook and it would be easier to get their "yes" or "no" confirmation there. In case anyone is interested as well here's their site: hPage Website Builder - https://www.hpage.com
