Ahr Ideas?

I like everyone's idea! We weren't sure what to do either but ultimately we decided to just have a big, regular reception about a month after we get back. We have a lot of people who can't come and want to celebrate with us. We also are not doing a real reception in Jamaica, like I don't think we are going to do dances or anything there so we will do that all here when we get back. I am going to wear my dress and wedding party will wear their stuff too. I like the idea of playing pictures on a slideshow. I think it will turn out really nice! I'm excited!

Initially we planned an AHR for a month after we get back. It was going to be in a rented place with a caterer and dj.  But now we probably won't do it at all.

We have 50 guests coming to our wedding...way more than we anticipated would be able to make the trip. All of our close friends and close family will be there. Plus we are paying for a reception and beach afterparty in Punta Cana.

We will probably just do a BBQ/party in our yard this summer with our families so they can be together. mainly our cousins who couldn't make it. We have a large yard so space will be no problem. Definitely no dress again. lol.

Oh wow, so many great ideas on here!  I've been thinking about this myself as we do want to have an AHR.  Our grandparents are in their late 80's and early 90's so they won't be able to come and some of our friends may still be in school when we're planning to have our wedding so we want to do something to incorporate them and anyone else who could not come.  I want to keep the cost down and I don't want it to be like a traditional reception.  I was thinking a Sunday brunch and we can show our pictures and wedding video or something and maybe have a small wedding cake to cut.  It will most likely be 100 people that we will invite to the AHR so I'm not even sure what kind of venue we should look at.

I do want to wear my dress again =)

We're having a blessing in the Church for all of my family who aren't coming ( which is a lot) then a buffet dinner and a DJ in a local hotel!! We'll definitely wear our wedding clothes again... any excuse to get dressed up!!! :-) :-)

I am having a "send off" party next year before my wedding! I wanted my guests to feel like they were part of my celebration, not a "oopp I am married now, you werent a part of it, just come to my party!"  :P

We are having it the weekend before we leave and are inviting everyone that isnt invited to Cabo with us and all our people invited to Cabo

We are having a BBQ, beer and dancing kind of thing. I will just be wearing a white dress I am sure, but we want it fun and casual!!

Loving your idea,

Its so much more cheaper.

I've been to one where the couple got married in the Bahamas. They had a reception a month after they returned. They had a dj, appetizers, open bar and she wore her dress. She wanted to get as much use out of it as possible.

I'm liking the idea of a brunch with breakfast foods, mimosas (so we have an excuse to drink champagne) and bloody marys and people can just stop in when they want:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
