Karisma Bride's Dress Rehearsal - Feedback Please?

Recommended Posts

@@MandM2014 - I too am really sorry to hear about your BDR experience. :(  Like @@kmk2016, I had a much different experience when we went. :(  I am curious to hear what you find out about the private food pricing. Please keep us posted!

Does anyone know if you can do another tasting once you are down there to finalize your selections?  I can't find anything in my notes on that.

@@MandM2014 - will you have children at your wedding ceremony...?

I ask, because EDR has a lovely ceremony site on the beach that doesn't face the sandbags/concrete barriers - Gazebo 55. That's where we chose to have our ceremony because I didn't want the sandbags in my ceremony photos. It was perfect! click through my gallery to see some of our photos if you need more info on this location.

Yeah the prices are high but the wedding coordinator at Generations said they were planning on lowering them because they haven't had even 50% occupancy yet.  She told me to have my TA get in touch with them to see what they could do so I am waiting to here back with the prices.  We are getting married on the beach and that is why the beach was so important to me which is another reason why I am having a hard time with Generations.  The beach was beautiful with no seaweed but we still don't know how we feel about the concrete in the water lol.

We were hoping the BDR would help us make our minds up and I think it just made it a little harder lol.

I agree I forgot about the fish…that was awful.  I didn't think about every chef cooking differently at every resort.  I wonder which resorts chef made that?

Sorry you didn't get upgraded! :(  They must have been full or something.

you won't be *right* on the beach there - it has a sea wall (what we're standing on in my profile pic). and then rocks below that, but the wall blocks the rocks so we got pretty blue water pics.

here's one of our beach photos just in front of Gazebo 55. seaweed was more noticeable than the sand bags!!!

@@AllieH - thanks for that tip!  Our photog suggested going over to EDR's beach for some of our pics so I'll ask if we can go there!

@@AllieH  Thanks for the tip but we will have children in our wedding so that isn't an option.  We did see that area and it was much nicer!

@@girlinthecity97  They said they would allow me to get the old prices for the food because that is what they had printed at the BDR.  I hate we didn't have the greatest experience either….we are really considering a Florida wedding now after all of this  :(

@@MandM2014 - thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to watch this closely as we finalize plans.  Sorry to hear you are rethinking a DW in Mexico but totally get your reason for reconsidering.  The wedding planning process in general is stressful enough but planning a DW increases that because you have to work around so many things that are beyond your control until you are onsite days before.

For what it's worth (my unsolicited feedback hehe) your guests will have just as much fun if you decide to go the FL route - still getting the tropical climate, beautiful white sandy beaches w/ turquoise water and maybe easier flights for your guests?  I went to a couple one,  in Marco Island (near Naples, FL) and the other in Miami and had a blast.

Do not let the BDR reunion your spirits! I say follow the destination that checks off all you and DF's "Must Have" boxes! *hug*

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
