Riu Cabo question

I'm planning my wedding at Riu in Cabo without ever doing a site visit. I'm daring, I know!! I recently got pictures of all the locations for the reception. I'm considering the English Garden. Has anyone seen that? I just have one picture to go off of. After searching on here I have not seen this area of the resort mentioned! Any thoughts?

The garden is sort of in the middle of the resort - yes, it's open the sky above, but you won't get a view of the ocean or anything. It's almost like it's down a few floors from the main lobby - so if you were stading in the lobby area, you could look down over the railing into the garden.

Good luck with your planning.

I am planning a wedding a the riu cabo as well....i havent been there before either. I am having my reception at the san jose restaurant on the terrace (the mexican restaurant)....many brides on here have recommended it. The pictures of the different reception areas from the wedding coordinator are all beautiful.....but beware of the extra costs...i am pretty sure the garden area was going to cost $500 for the site plus the cost per person. Have you been communicating with the new wedding coordinator there?

hopefully we can share info and help eachother out

Yes, that is the gazebo. It is very private, located behind the Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately we did not get upgraded to a suite although we tried really hard. After changing our room about 4 times we finally ended up with an ok room. I was not happy about it either. We booked a year in advancesad.gif

I don't think they give anybody the upgrade - at least I've never heard of anybody getting it... We booked the 2 story suite for our stay for the wedding, and loved it. It was the last one on the end near the Mexican restaurant right near that gazebo. Very quite, great views, and I loved all the room that you had.

We watched every wedding at the gazebo that week, and they were absolutely lovely. And yes, very private.

Great information everyone! I'd love to keep this going.

Is the 2-story suite the one with the hot tub on the terrace? Is the room worth the extra money?

How private is the Mexican terrace? It looks cramped in some of the pictures I've seen too. I'm wondering why it's such a popular location for hte reception. I'm guessing it's the view and no fee for the location. Is that correct? I opted for the English Garden because it's very private. I don't want to feel like I'm at a resort with other people at the reception so I want something private and quiet.

Did anyone get a discount for group booking of rooms?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
