Hi Jenna!  Congratulations!!  My name is Jackie and my fiancee, Dan and I will be getting married on June 8th at NOW Sapphire. So far we have about 21 people booked -I think a lot of people are waiting until after the holidays to book their trip.  I have taken care of my major vendors.  I got the call last night that my dress arrived!!!   I am cracking down now on the small stuff… OOT bags, favor, etc.  How is your planning going? This is so exciting… we are only 5 months away.

Hi Jenna!

I'm getting married June 7th at NOW Sapphire resort. We are confirmed for 82 people! ( I can't believe it!) and most of the big vendors are done ( photographer, DJ, Florist) Like Jackie I still have to do all the small stuff but struggling with what to put in the OOT bags.

I have found some AMAZING ideas on this website for the pre wedding communication and the welcome bags just have to start to order stuff and get things firmed up!

Jackie- are you doing any music for welcome reception? I can't believe your dress is already in! Mine doesn't come in until April! I def need to go on my wedding diet starting in the year so I can fit in that dress :)

Hi Vanessa and Jackie!

It's great to meet some brides who are getting married at the same time as me!  So exciting!!

I'm also struggling with OOT bags... I don't want to waste money putting things in there that no one will use! Right now I'm considering ordering canvas tote bags and including a letter to each guest thanking them for coming.

I'm only using a photographer for my ceremony, and I will leave it up to my parents/MOH/guests to take pictures of the reception.  I'm thinking of also putting a disposable camera in my OOT bags so that my guests can take pics during the reception and collect all the cameras after and making myself a copy of all the photos.  I just know that if everyone uses their own camera, it'll be hard for me to get photos afterwards.

Please feel free to share any OOT/camera ideas you have!! :)

My friend had everyone download an app called Wed Pics. then once they uploaded the photos she could see and print all of them once she got back from her honeymoon. She has hundreds of pictures!
I also read on this blog you can set up another website through one of the photo sites ( I'll try to look for it) and guests upload all the photos to a link specifically for your wedding. Everyone will have their own cameras so maybe put a note in the welcome bags saying please upload this app and put your pics on here or please download your photos to xxx website after the wedding? I"ll see if I can find anymore information for you on those photosites. We are having our guests download the Wed Pic app and then downloading all the photos afterwards.

I think for the OOT bags we are going to do some sort of mug, cute sunglasses ( $1.00 each at oriental trading) and a welcome note, itinerary and  a key holder badge tag with a lanyard for people to take their key and some money in their beach bag to the pool. not sure what else. The glasses we are just doing more for fun and putting a tag on them that says "wear these so you don't get blinded by our love" or something funny like that!  I'm not going crazy on the welcome bags though because people won't use alot of the stuff in it and I'd rather spend the $$ on other things.

Jenna -check out this link for the photo site. This should help you out.

Hi Everyone,

Our wedding is June 6, 2014 at Azul Sensatori. We have 47 people confirmed so far and a couple who are on the 'tentative' list. We've reserved the DJ and photographer. We are having a Welcome Cocktail Party on the terrace of the resort's Mexican restaurant with a Mexican Fiesta Taco Party menu. The wedding will be on the Sky Terrace overlooking the beach with the reception by one of the pools. Menu and wedding cake are set.

We're not doing a lot for the OOT bags. I've selected a nice canvas tote bag, personalized playing cards, matches, a sea shell bottle opener plus an 'I survived a Mexican Wedding' kit. I found the idea and a template on the OOT bag forum. It will be a small plastic Baggie with insect repellant bands, hand sanitizer, Tylenol, Advil and Pepto Bismol packets. I have bought about half of the stuff.

My biggest concern are decorations. The resort charges an exorbitant amount for flowers, centerpieces, chair sashes, table runners, etc. What are you planning?

Hi Jenny, I am using an outside florist and meeting them at the front door to avoid any resort fees. I am working with Alina at floreria Rivieria. She is awesome. Her response time is almost immediate, she speaks perfect english and her prices are MUCH cheaper than the resort prices. She's been great to work with so far. I sent her some pics of colors and ideas that I want and she sent me the prices for each of the ideas I sent her.  I highly reccomend reaching out to her. For example I bought a bag of rose petals for my aisle runner from her for $20. My resort charges $150 for a bag of rose petals. She can create centerpieces within your budget.  Her email address is: info@floresrivieramaya.com

As for linens/chair sashes/table runners I am buying on tablelinensdirect.com or another one of those websites and bringing them down with me. So much cheaper than the resort. Again the resort wanted $5/chair sash and I am getting for $.43 /sash on tablelinensdirect.com I will just bring them down in my suitcase since they won't take up much room. Hope this helps. Let me know what other questions you have!

I'm thinking iPod and playlist for welcome dinner. What are you doing?  The party is only 2 hours so I think I can get away with a good playlist.

I can't believe my dress is in!!! I'm not even going to look a it b/c I need to lose a little weight.  I just joined Equinox last week   I love the classes and facility and I was getting sick of NYSC (location by my office is gross).  So I will be taking classes before and after work everyday!!

Has anyone planned any group excursions?  Not sure what I plan on doing yet, but I'm thinking that I should start looking into possible group rates.

So far, I've found the Croccocun Zoo near the resort I'm staying in.  Haven't done much research yet, but our weddings are right around the corner so it's time to start planning!

@@MrsSheppardToBe I am not doing any group excursions. Most of my guests are coming Thursday-Sunday and we will be having welcome reception Friday pm. My friends all have little babies at home ( 3 and under) and they are leaving them home to relax and just sit in a chair with a daquiri :) so I don't want to ruin that for them! there are a few forums on this website though that talk about excursions, etc. so if you want ideas I would type in the search box and see what threads/posts come up. I do think excursions could be a great idea but costs might add up because you'll need to offer transportation to/from. Hope you find something that works for you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
