June 2014 Riviera Maya Brides!

Recommended Posts

@GingerJ228- Had my first fitting today! The good news is I still love the dress :) There was some major alterations that needed to be done ( length), mid section area, etc. because I'm so short it wasn't falling correctly BUT I think for my next fitting it will look perfect.

I seriously can't believe how close it's getting! We get married at the courthouse on May 6th so I think after that time will fly!

Working on the small details (veil or no veil), I think we have our final guest count (56). Trying but failing to lose the weight I've gained since I fell in love.  Wedding planning consumes my thoughts night and day and has even invaded my dreams.

Prepping for FI to move in and finally living together (our relationship has been long distance).

I'm looking forward to the wedding, but more so the few days we have alone in Mexico after our guests leave.

Are any of my fellow June brides concerned about the weather?  I've heard that June in the Riviera Maya can be really hot and also rainy.  Just wondering what you've all heard.

June is the start of the rainy season so there is more of a chance for rain then in April or May. But, even if it rains, it's rare that it rains all day and it usually clears by late afternoon. Just in case, you should ask the resort about rainy day alternate locations. I am also doing a lot of hoping, praying and finger-crossing. LOL! There's an old wive's tale that says it's lucky to have rain on your wedding day but I would prefer sunshine!

Sounds like you are in about the same place that I am. I decided to do a veil and bought veil weights to hold it down if it's windy. I'm exercising 4-5 days a week in an effort to lose 8-10 pounds in the next 4 weeks. Still have a few things left to do but feel more or less under control. We are almost done!

Tonight, FI and I are going to work hard on our reception music!  Gonna get this all figured out tonight.

I've also made my ceremony programs and menus on Word, just need to print them out.  I've also made my placecards and just need to buy some ribbon to tie them to my maracas for the table.

I also need to do my table numbers (just 3, lol).  We're going do flameless candles and wrap vellum around the glass with the table number on it.  Other than that, we're almost ready to go!

Anyone else doing a sand ceremony?

I think June is start of rainy season but at this point I'm just going to show up and whatever the weather ends up being it is. I don't want to spend the next 30 days worrying about it since it's clearly out of my control. I figure once I'm there with all my friends family we will all make the best of it if it rains!

Lets hope for an unusually sunny June!!! :)

I'm more concerned about heat during the ceremony (my reception is indoors). What time is everyone's ceremony starting? I am currently at 4pm but wondering if it should be later.

I've been so inconsistent with my diet and exercise. I've just gotten back on track.  I purchased my dress 7 lbs heavier than I am now and it fit then.  I was just hoping to lose more.

Where did you buy your veil weights?

I'm not worried.  If it rains it will prob be in  the morning then clear up.  I've been to Mexico a few times in June and rain has never been an issue

What is everyone up to this week!!!!   I'm leaving for Mexico in in month and two days.  I am waiting for my paper goods to arrive (menus, thank you cards/itineraries for the guest bags).  I still need to confirm my details with my planner at the hotel and complete my table arrangements.  I will buy wedding jewelry and shoes this week. I think the most time consuming this I have left figuring out music for my welcome dinner and playlist for my DJ.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
