June 2014 Riviera Maya Brides!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone planned any group excursions?  Not sure what I plan on doing yet, but I'm thinking that I should start looking into possible group rates.

So far, I've found the Croccocun Zoo near the resort I'm staying in.  Haven't done much research yet, but our weddings are right around the corner so it's time to start planning!

I am not booking any excursions for my guests.  I am hosting a welcome dinner the evening before the wedding and thats it. Most of our guests are flying in for a long weekend and I don't want to momopolize their whole vacation with events.

Hello,

My wedding is June 20,2014 at Azul Sensatori.  I would like to pay for my bridal parties make-up but the resort fees are high.  Their will be 7 of us.  Has anyone found a local make-up artist?

Hi Lolita2014,

It may be difficult to have makeup done by someone outside of Azul Sensatori. They are pretty strict about enforcing the $800 outside vendor fee to bring someone into AS. If you leave the resort, I am sure you can find someone in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen. We have stayed at Secrets Silversands for the last 3 years. It is right next door to AS and I know it is expensive to get to Playa Del Carmen (about $100 round trip) and takes almost an hour.

I have seen an ad on another forum for makeup artists in Cancun. I' m home recovering from minor surgery for a couple of days so I'll spend some time looking for it.

Hi Vanessav53,

I ordered several tote bag samples from Discountmugs.com and decided on the one on the attached photo.  They cost about $5.50 each with a logo printed.  Not very cheap but they are very sturdy and I'm hoping people will be able to use them later as a souvenir since my logo is fairly simple and not personalized.  There are other websites to check out including eBay.  I haven't ordered the final bags yet since I'm waiting for a sale and/or better discount.  ;)

I got an email from the DJ with a request to list the songs for the wedding reception.  So, I've started thinking about music.  I am also planning to send out paper invitation by the end of month.  My maid of honor does professional calligraphy and she is addressing them now.

@@GingerJ228 I'm kind of in a lull too. I have a list of things to do but nothing at the moment. I might start working on some things like the guest book, etc. because I'm afraid if I wait until March/April then Im' going to be overwhelmed with stuff to do.

I have alot of little things left but all the big things are booked and completed ( which feels nice but weird that it's 4 months away and I'm just sitting here waiting for spring to start doing things :)

Me too... I find that at times I can be somewhat busy with planning, and then it's back to having nothing to do.

Right now, I am waiting for an email back from my wedding coordinator, as I have a question about menu selections.  Once I hear back I will be able to figure out my dinner menu for the reception.

I'm going to start working on my guestbook soon - my plan is to order a photobook, with a picture in the middle of each page with a thick white border so that guests can sign it and write messages.  This will be for my at-home reception (which is going to be a brunch at a local golf course).  For my wedding I am bringing a photo mat which all my guests will sign and I will have it professionally framed when I get home!

I'm the same as you all, waiting for spring so I can put together my ceremony programs, place cards, etc...

Still thinking about my OOT bags.  I want to do canvas totes but I'm not sure that my guests will really enjoy them that much and at $6 each it seems a little much.  Just trying to keep this as simple as possible!

Just got an email from my TA that the resort is officially sold out for the weekend of our wedding in June. Hard to believe they are filled up this early. I haven't even sent out my paper invitations yet. We are not too upset since we have 47 people booked and almost everyone we really wanted to attend has booked. Are you sending formal invitations and if so, when?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
