Jewel-Runaway Bay 2014 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi all-

I just got my confirmation for my wedding May 26, 2014 at Jewel Runaway Bay!

I have been looking for information about this specific resort and it seems like there isn't much information out there.

Is anyone else getting married here? If so, what photographer are you using? Are you just having the free reception or are you upgrading? If you are having a free recption are you bringing any decor? Are you doing any excursions or anything extra for your guests?

Vacationed there this past May. Had a wonderful time. While we were there, a couple got married in the chapel on the beach. Which I thought was unique. Love the idea in getting married in a chapel, but you can still see the ocean. Can't remember if they used a special photographer or the resorts photographer. I do remember that at least 2 - 3 people from the resort was helping with their wedding.

How did the wedding look?  We want to get married on the beach and I am worried since I haven't found anything on these boards about my resort.  Its got lots of great reviews on trip advisor, but not much when it comes to weddings.

It was a very simple wedding. In the 5 days I was there, it was the only wedding, so they had at least 2 - 3 wedding coordinators helping them out. It was held in the chapel on the beach around 3pm. The music was from a tape recorder. They only had champagne after the wedding with about 20 guest. The bride stayed at a oceanfront suite with it's own pool, which is located near to the chapel / beach wedding area. Yes, I was one of those nosy people, but kept my distance. Lol.

The beachfront wedding ceremony space is off to the side, so not really anyone really sunbathing over there. In fact, most people didn't even know a ceremony was going on, the evening entertainment staff was practicing during the ceremony. One of the wedding coordinators had to tell them to stop, but the wedding was half over. : - (

The wedding coordinators were very nice. The resort is now family friendly. They have a bonfire on the beach making S'mores, a movie by the pool, and a nice nightclub with toga night.

This resort is one of the few resorts in Jamaica that is owned by Jamaicans. One of the staff members said that is one reason the staff love coming to work. Everything is authentic. You should have a great time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
